These same folks are saying Plant is the better boxer and “won more rounds”—all while their man got knocked out. Sports punditry is at an all time low, especially boxing. Fanboys will call the dude laying on his back a better fighter and forget that boxing has one irrefutable and decisive way to determine who the best is—a knocked out. No debates, no discussion. Unless of course you hate one fighter so much that you toss all logic and history of the sport aside. Sad sad day for online amateur boxing fetishists, great day for people who understand pro fighting style and great boxing IQ supersedes paddy cake nonsense. Shout out to dudes who cheer on the loser (Plant)
Well... People all exxagerate and these exxagerations become nonsense for the nonsense mill... No... Canelo was not losing the fight lol. But Plant fought an excellent fight, so this participation trophy passive aggressive BS is also nonsense. Plant should have risked it in the championship rounds and made Canelo KO him with a counter... he had backed Canelo up a few times with a good jab and has a great left hook. He should have recognized that he needed to make a stand... But this was a competative fight.

      • With all due respect, I saw a mediocre fight at best, while it is true Plant made himself a hard target to hit, it is equally true he propposed next to nothing offensively, money's style doesn't work without counters and Plant was at all times more concerned with not getting hit by Canelo (can't say I blame the guy) than knocking him out.
His plan was never to win, just not to lose so badly.
In the end tho...a couple of well placed shots and all that effort crumbles to nothing.
        passable effort but nothing more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fight from start to finish. The other weight classes need to get off Social Media and fight. At least there’s one champion fighting 2-3 times a year.
          Very well said!

Do you even watch boxing? You know that Usyk is scheduled to rematch Joshua at heavyweight?

You are a ****ing dumbass if you think canelo was landing clean on plant just because he was the aggressor. Go watch the fight properly, casual. Plant was slippery and canelo was frustrated that his punches were getting blocked and missing a lot. Plant scored some good body shots too. Ineffective aggression does not equal a win for those rounds.

The left hook stunned him but it was the uppercut that came after that effectively killed plant’s legs

                  • The difference and deciding factor was the massive gap in experience. Crazy how Plant still managed to give him a tough fight but ultimately crumbled in the later rounds.

Would have served him better to have faced a Benavidez before this fight. Canelo is P4P number one but he can’t keep relying on power to bail him out every night.

As far as Charlo and Andrade, neither would be able to handle the power of Canelo. Charlotte gets hurt by a hard jab. Look at his last 2 fights. And Andrade is a joke. A paper champion who hasn't fought anyone like Canelo.

Benavides would be interesting but he needs to work to get quicker. He has a hard jab, and knows how to hit the body.. but Canelo fights from all different styles.. he knows how to study the opponent and plan to fight a different style..
