GGG has clearly aged as expected yet did sound sick during the sergy fight. A 65% GGG still beats this guy.

yeh ye h but you get more credibility for wins outside backyard whether you like it or not. Ggg will get more credit for beating murata in Japan than he would for beating muratas in kazakstan, whether ggg likes it or not and also whether ggg cares or not

GGG only loses if he's made a multi million deal with the Yakuza

This fight is not what anyone asked for or cares to see. Between 147 and 160, I can’t recall any era where there were so many guys that were perceived to be elite with so little of them fighting each other. Why ggg, charlo and Andrade can’t find a way to make fights with each other is beyond me.

It leaves me to wonder with the WBA president honor the promise the world title shot to Sergio Martinez against the winner of GGG vs. Murata or have an a fight with Martinez vs. Eubank Jr. as an eliminator first. I really hope Martinez gets a shot at redemption to go out and retire on a high note as opposed to how he went out against Cotto.

I dunno! GGG is past his prime but still has the power in both hands. Murata is a very live dog. GGG is more easier to hit now. He will get tagged a lot in this fight. If his chin is still granite, then it will be a very interesting fight.

This should be a good scrap. golovkin doesn't mind getting hit and murata can punch and doesn't mind slugging it out plus he has home field advantage! with that said golovkin by stoppage!

This is a News Flash for those not watching Boxing over the last couple years:

Trip G losing to Murata is not an upset. Golovkin is slower, less active, and fought only "B" or club level competition since his loss to Alvarez. Murata is a skilled, experienced, quicker fighter who will be defending his home turf against a perceived legend with his home countries Honor at stake in his mind. Yes, Golovkin has traveled well, has much bigger fights under his belt, and will still have the power edge. But I cannot see how this is not a close to 50/50 fight just because one has a better reputation.

I will pick Murata in a entertaining UD.

Can’t just go on surviving on the legendary chin, he’s taking way more damage now than before.
If GGG wanted to fight better opposition, he would. Same as Lomachenko and Tank Davis and Mikey Garcia. These guys are all the same. Lomachenko claims he fights for legacy, but he's 33 years old choosing to waste all year fighting Nakatani and Richard Commey. These opponents are such trash, they don't even have fake belts like the top 10,000 guys in the sport do. Lomachenko could have fought DH at 135, and SS at a catchweight, instead, and had a chance to actually enhance his legacy based on the fact they will likely exceed Nakatani and Commey's career accomplishments going forward, and also appear slightly better to the eye test currently.

But he is not a legacy fighter. He is someone who, as a foreign boxer, had to fight a few good opponents by necessity to build his name, but no one great, and then talked a lot about legacy while doing nothing. Because fans are interested in "legacy fights," so talking about it a lot helps bring you fans.

Same trick as GGG. I would know, I fell for it! But not anymore. Actions speak louder than words. If you go an entire year without facing the best opponent in your weight neighborhood, you are not a legacy fighter. Weight neighborhood is defined as your division, the division below yours, and the division above yours. But real legacy fighters will fight the best guy two divisions up at least once every two years.

GGG, Loma and Garcia have all fought the best guys at 160-130-135-147 divisions over the last few years. Tank Davis has mentioned them on twitter, does that count?
