I know w/l happen in the ring but do we think their was anyone around who could have beaten him ?
The names that have been volleyed around -
Margarito. Every hater favorite boogeyman. Outside of beating a green (a term I don't like using after 20 fights) Sergio and a controversial win vs Cotto, who in the FCK did he beat ? I don't want to hear about everyone being too scared to fight him. He put the cave in caveman. Yeah, he could take a punch but at that point, May was not about power. May would hit this ********** with a 10 punch combo before Margarito could blink. May would easily avoid Capt Caveman's slow motion Hail Mary's. You picture May lhao at the feebleness of it all. May was at war with TR and Margie was a TR fighter. May went on to bigger and better fights. Margie, not so much.
P Williams. True. Going by the visuals, it seemed like a daunting task (6'1'' 79 r vs 5'8'' 74 r !). However, Paul's biggest and constant problem was his size. He constantly smothered his own punches by being overly aggressive. And he was a lefty. On paper, this would have been a fight to test May. HOWEVER. Slow AF Margarito was able to land a million punches (true, they are close in height, not so much reach). IMHO, May's ring savvy and superior hand speed and defense would have given May the edge.
Cotto. Cotto is my boy but nah. May would pretty much figure him out in the 1st 3 rds and simply take over. Also, He too was a TR fighter (I believe) and TR is said to have not wanted to put Cotto in there with May. This would have been an easy fight for May. Possible stoppage.
Mosley. Like Cotto, Shane is a favorite of mine. Like Cotto, May would have figured him out and took over. No stoppage but a damn near shutout after 3.
Of these names, I have to say Paul was the one name that might have given May a hard night. I wonder what weight he he have to come in at to fight Pac......
