Comments Thread For: Heads Of WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO Meet In Hopes Of Standardizing Title Unification Bouts Among Other Matters

The latest sit down between the heads of the sport's four most notable sanctioning bodies provided an air of optimism for all parties to work together for the sake of the sport. Time will tell whether that vision sees the light of day, although any conversation is a sound starting point.

I guess it’s better late than never! Hopefully they talk about getting one counsel to mandate boxing….in our dreams right?

I'm good with having multiple sanctioning bodies since total control under one entity is a pathway to doom, whether in sports or politics or anywhere. But, a lot needs to improve in their cooperation to get what we fans all desire: the best fighting the best for undisputed status in every weight class. Hopefully, they'll be able to get us closer to that reality.

            The 4 clowns of boxing.

Yes, IBF too. They’ve blocked so many fights between elites. And forces the elite fighters to fight A Jon Doe.

They are praised for following their own rules, strip top boxers who refuses to relinquish the title. But you look at IBF rankings, full of unknowns.

So fck all 4 of them.

I remember them doing something like this a few years ago & the WBO didn't show up.

I get your point, but it’s not always the directly the fault of the IBF that the rankings are often subpar. It’s actually a byproduct of them being so strict with their rules

For example, the no.1 and no.2 ratings are filled through elimination bouts, as stipulated. However, they cannot force people into them… and often fighters will fight someone outside of the IBF ranking (Another ABC titleholder for example). This means the the spot remains vacant, or the elimination bout occurs with the next best contender

its a very difficult system to manage with 4 sets of official rankings. It would not be an issue if the IBF was the only sanctioning body. Unless we go back to an era of unified mandatories, this issue won’t go away. I’m surprised barely anyone calls for it either

These Four ****s need a Commissioner.

Its such a fun exercise to scroll down each sanctioning bodies top 10-15 in each division. (It’s horrifying to see how different they are and not in a good way)

If the alphabet groups ranked football teams the IBF would have the Cincinnati Bearcats ranked ahead of the Tampa Bay Bucs.

And the WBA and WBO wouldn’t even have Tampa Bay ranked.

How the **** are fighters constantly testing positive-and nobody is on the same page as far as testing or punishment. In our beloved combat sport it’s not that big of a deal to cheat?!
