That’s not the point. It’s about Mendoza saying one thing and then doing something else. Mendoza is a snake and who ever backs him in this situation is just as much of a snake.

Ugas making every excuse/argument not to fight Stanionis, why? If you're so much better why not fight him, make an easy pay day and move on to bigger better fights? Way too many prima-donna's in the boxing game.....

This guy has been calling out Crawford, publicly, for years now.

But he is worried about Stanionis.

Would Stanionis even beat the guys Ugas wants to fight?

Stanionis is on the threat level of Dulorme, Figueroa Jr, Dallas and Robinson. Nothing to be worried about there, other than making considerably less money than he would by fighting the tougher Spence or Crawford.

Boxing fans are so backward. It’s ridiculous. A guy with no accomplishments as a pro, has no stand out amateur career, doesn’t even look all that great vs the low level and old fighters he has faced.

But Ugas is worried about him.

So Mendoza is the only snake in the boxing industry? Obviously not, the whole industry is a snake pit including judges, managers, promoters, networks and commentators.... fighters should appreciate the match ups & pay days regardless of with whom they're fighting....

because it isn’t a great payday and all it does it t gets him a fight against a guy he already beat that also won’t pay well, all while wasting a year of his prime.

In addition to what jockpunk wrote, how long will it be until Spence decides to move up in weight?

And if I'm being real, I just want to see Crawford vs Spence, assuming Crawford comes away from the Porter fight with the W, which I expect he will though it should be a good fight. But I have the feeling Spence is the one that's been avoiding that fight, not Crawford. I bet Spence wants the Ugas fight next so 1. He can get three belts to Crawford's one. 2. Then price himself out of the Crawford fight by saying he has 3 belts and Crawford only has one so he should get some ridiculous split like 70/30.

It's just a waste of time for him and everybody else except Stanionis and I totally understand his point of view. I think that unification fights should always have a higher priority than mandatory defenses, however, unified champions always have the problem of having multiple mandatories at the same time, pople who've been climbing the ladder for a while trying to get to a title shot. I don't think this is the case with Stanionis though who really didn't deserve his ranking and I think neither Jamal James nor Radzhab Butaev would mind fighting the unified or even undisputed welterweight champion and make huge payday instead of fighting Ugas too soon for crumbles.

It doesn't make much sense to make these meaningless fights for low money unless they're trying to protect another big fight like Spence vs Crawford and they don't want to risk the fight because of Ugaa, who can give anybody real issues. That would be some grade A corruption right there and it wouldn't surprise me at all.

Are you a boxing fan? Does that then mean you are backward if you are? It's just my opinion. As you've just expressed yours. That's cool. But if someone's opinion differs from yours then so be it. Don't get upset it's only a sport. Here's some perspective for you though. Josh Taylor beat Victor Postol in his 13th fight. World champ in 15. Maybe Stanionis does one better. Who had Josh beaten before that? Teofimo Lopez, world champ in 15 also. Gervonta Davis in 17. Plenty other examples. Stanionis has a chance. If Ugas has nothing to worry about, he should keep quiet and train. He has a mandatory to clear. Best of luck to him. He might just need it.

Nobody is saying Mendoza deserves a pat on the back. But Ugas has a mandatory. He needs to clear that. That's boxing. It's just a shame for him that he is then involved in the consolidation process right on the back of that. I'd let him unify, right on the back of the mandatory and then force the consolidation fight on the winner. The WBA are still being manipulated. As they are putting pressure on this division, Gervonta Davis is not being forced to choose a title. Seems to me their waiting for a vacant belt. That's double standards. Nothing happening at heavyweight. Fearing a lawsuit from Don King most probably. So if they aren't hurrying those divisions, then they could ease up at WW also. But fact remains Ugas still has his mandatory to clear first.
