Navarette is not an easy fight for any fighter at around the same weight.

Both fighters would be battle-fatigued by the time Arum gives them to you.

Arum putting Valdez in with Navarrete instead of Stevenson doesn’t at all seem like Bob protecting Valdez. I think it would be a great fight but I see that as being the more dangerous fight.

Valdez will be eating jabs and loading up and swinging at air all night against Stevenson - he’d be outboxed and look silly. Whereas against Navarrete, Oscar would get dragged into a war and take a lot of punishment in the process.

In all honesty I’d rather see Stevenson vs Navarette. Nav is massive at 126 and me thinks he’ll be even better at 130 by not having to cut as much weight. I think his style and size are all wrong for Shakur & Shakurs A+ boxing makes things real interesting.


Oscar can fight and lose to the winner. TBH I don’t see any long term progression for him. I feel like that Berchelt win while great, had a lot of contributing factors (Berchelt killing himself to make 130 & it being his 1st fight after having a bad case of Covid). Prior to that win he looked average & after that fight he arguably lost to that Brazilian. I think the wars have taken a lot out of him & this new style the Reynosos have tried to adapt to him just isn’t enough
