No it wont. A win over Porter is what you need. if you do it in fashion it would be a big deal for sure. But it won’t put you in front of Usyk or Canelo.

Crawford is a fantastic fighter a top 5 P4P but Usyk is playing the game different and making the moves while Crawford just chills.

A dominant win against Porter will be his best win and have him on track for another big win against a top WW to call himself the p4p fighter. If he beats Porter he will fight Taylor.
Bud is delusional, this is his hardestt fight at WW and he was forced to fight Porter, he did not pick him because it was going to get him to the #1 p4p status.Combat Talk Radio likes this.

In Canada , " Bud " as they call him has done diddly squat. Who's he beaten ? The only fight of any meaning , hasn't happened, and thats pitting the 2 undefeated Welter champs against each other . And that's Spence vs Crawford. This era's Leonard vs Hearns. Spence is light years ahead of Crawford as far as respect goes. I honestly don't see the American fascination with Terrance Crawford. He needs a big win to get respect. He hasnt had that yet . Who? Jeff Horn ?? A completely washed up Kell Brook ?. No, that doesn't cut it. There's only one fight out there for Crawford, and that's Spence. Not Porter. If he wants to shut up all his naysayers, he needs Spence. That's the bottom line.

Cruiserweight was and is still a stacked division. Mairis Briedis has an arguable case for being a top 10 p4p fighter, and he's shown that by beating everyone else after giving Usyk his toughest fight ever. At the time there were guys like Michael Hunter and Gassiev too.
Meanwhile at 140 the top guys now are Josh Taylor and Ramirez, neither of whom Crawford fought. Sure they weren't really up there at the time when Crawford cleaned out the division but it still goes to show it wasn't actually that strong at the time, since all of the guys that Crawford fought have been wiped out. Whereas the guys that Usyk fought have stayed to dominate the division.
