I don't know who promotes Wilfredo ‘Bimbito’ Mendez, but he previously got DAZN's attention as he was schedule to defend against the former WBO interim champ Carlos Buitrago, on the Vergil Ortiz vs. Egis Kavaliauskas undercard. Unfortunately Buitrago ruined everything by failing to make the 105 limit.

This is a sad situation, it reminds me of when former unified jr. flyweight champ Hekkie Budler dropped the IBF 108 title in 2018, due to a poor-purse-bid and the expense of the sanctioning fee ; promoter Sampson Lewkowicz won the bid with a mere 25K.

Its no laughing matter, these are real warriors, they fight the dangerous opponents of their division more often than the higher-weights, yet do not get the respect and recognition nor the money that they deserve -- I notice these sad events, and I have to appreciate the lower-weight classes.
It’s a shame but at 105 a few jabs could swell a guys eye up. I used to watch all weight classes but with all the e catch weights & weight drain stuff i lost interest after 168 super six tourney. I just have always liked the HWs. I started watching HWs when i was around 14 in the late 80s. Ruddock & Lewis were my favourites as I am Canadian & then it snowballed as i had the old black box before digital cable so i got all the PPV boxing & wrestling for free…

Boxing should get rid of super/junior classes up to at least featherweight. Make it 112, 118, 126. Instead we have 105, 108, 112, 115, 118, 122, and 126. 7 weight classes within 20 lbs, 5 lbs less than the jump from light heavy to cruiserweight. This is another thing the UFC gets right, 10 lbs. between each of their weight classes minimum.
