Interesting. I remember Oscar telling GGG that if he went ahead with the unification against BJS in Kazakhstan, a fight with Canelo later that same year would be taken off the table. I presumed that was why it didn't happen, but clearly, there were other things going on behind the scenes. -

I’m no ggg fan but no way in hell he ever ducked Saunders.
Another ****** thread started by a Canelo ball gagger trying to advance his agenda.Comment

Saunders showed his texts with Tom Loeffler in 2017 asking when GGG was signing his end of the contract because Saunders already had or was about to.
I don’t think they ducked per se, I remember Golden Boy said if GGG fought BJS at Expo 17, the Canelo fight wasn’t happening.
Canelo also was in talks to fight Saunders in 2016, but decided to move back down to 154 to fight Smith, but Smith and BJS had the same promoter then and the original talks were for Canelo v Saunders, Saunders agreed but then Canelo moved back down so the negotiated the Smith fight instead.
So If people wanna say GGG ducked Saunders in 2016, they can also say Canelo did too. Eric Gomez from Golden Boy even said the Saunders fight was risky back then.
Anyway, Canelo waited for GGG to be older, just like he took Saunders when he wad mostly inactive for a few years, apart from 1 or 2 fights.
GGG had a good reason not to fight at Expo 17. Canelo’s reasons usually revolve around getting risky fighters at a good time.Comment

Nope. BJS specifically pointed at GGG for ducking him. Saunders has never been shy to cite facts or chronological occurrences. He’ll call it like it is, and BJS never said “Canelo chose to fight Smith instead of me.” BJS has never stated Canelo ducked him, but for GGG yes. Good day!Comment
