Povetkin was still Covid emaciated and a pitiful shell of himself. That rematch shouldn't even count. The Wallin fight was/is a valid replacement fight for the mandatory. I completely agree with Salita-Wallin. Let Whyte heal and then fight Wallin. Top level fights should never be "cancelled" unless a fighter can't come back in a reasonable time. This fight should have been postponed (Whyte has benefitted from postponements before), and reschduled after the shoulder heals (if it's even injured).

Typical hearn manipulation of the system ... Whyte is "injured". Yeah, right. Ok, we will wait for him to get healthy!

If you were given the chance to make tens of millions fighting Fury, compared to potentially less than a million fighting Wallin, which would you choose and why?

If I was Whyte I know what I'd choose considering my age and wear and tear in my career from being knocked out a couple of times. Potentially losing to Wallin would be career suicide.

The WBC very rarely force anyone to do anything.

And they certainly don't enforce voluntary defences of an interim title against a guy they rank outside of their top 20.

            1. Why any fight fan is worrying about another man's money is beyond me. 2. Assuming Wallin and Whyte have a signed contract for their fight, Whyte should negotiate a step-aside and pay Wallin to allow the "bigger" fight to happen. If Whyte has mega-millions waiting this should be easy to accomplish. It's always been done that way for a preferred fight when a contract is in place. 3."Faking" or creating a minor injury to take a bigger fight is unethical, gives the sport a tremendous black eye, and is a sleazey tactic generally. Complete;y unprofessional. No fight fan or any other sportfan should be dancing and giggling while the integrity of the sport is made non existence so some bozo can get a career payday. That's corrupt on so many levels.

If there is a bigger, better fight out there, by all means go for it. But if you have a signed contract in place you should professionally work something out ... not resort to lies, faking, ducking, etc. The Greatest, M. Ali talked about the need to keep ypur word and give a guy a fight when you have promised it, let alone have signed a contract (he was talking about the 3rd fight with Frazier). What kind of HW Champ would Whyte be ... weaseling out of contracts?

If no contract is in place, then move on by all means ...
