So, I think we can all agree that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is definitely a future hall of famer and will be remembered for quite some time.
I often think about how his nickname, which translates to “Cinnamon” of course, reminds me of the several boxers who have taken on the nickname “Sugar”; from Robinson to Leonard to Mosley, so many American fighters with fast hands and reputations as sweet as sugar have taken that moniker.
Which is why I can’t help but wonder if future Mexican boxers will similarly take on the nickname of Canelo?
Canelo does have a very unique style that’s probably hard to emulate, so I’m not sure what criteria they’d need to meet to earn that nickname, unless they also happen to be gingers too.
