Why do people call Wilder fighting Fury a "cherry pick gone wrong"

seen people say this recently that this whole trilogy can be described as a "cherry pick gone wrong" how was Fury a cherrypick?

Because he invested all his stock in beating the troubled fury so he could set up a more lucrative match with aj. Everbody in boxing knows you can't overlook your next opponent, you're supposed to focus on the one at the instant. Well, deontay figured 120 million could flip a little and turn into more gold once he got rid of the dosser Tyson fury. Except there was one plot twist in the mix that ****ed it up: fury got up from the knockdown. Matter of fact deontay wilder claims he witnessed the work of Jesus Christ by watching fury get up from that second knockdown= monkey wrench= fury, in the game plan. He wanted to marinate the AJ fight because he oh so believed in his right hand that he fell in love with his power. Like juvenile said "power makes a player show his arrogance" and that's exactly what deontay was being, a cash grubbing clown that got owned before he could make the fight with aj which he already overlooked.

Because fury looked like shlt in his comeback fights and was coming off depression and by far the biggest weight gain he's had. It all backfired on windmill best part of it was he talked so much trash/nonsense before and after the first two fights seeing him get his ass kicked in the 3rd was perfection.

Simple. Fury beat Klitchko in 2015. Then had to vacate his titles in 2016 and had mental health issues. He didn’t fight again until early 2018 and looked pretty bad. Wilder cherry picks him to fight at the end of 2018 thinking he would KO him and get to claim he beat the guy that beat Klitchko before AJ to get a leg up in negotiations with Hearn.
Was a clear cherry pick gone wrong.

It wasnt only the first fight.
WIlder went awol and wanted no part of Fury after their first fight, until he saw the fury vs wallin fight. He saw furys cut and performance, took confidence from it and then jumped on a second fight.
he also thought fury was pillow fisted, but kronk fury came in.

Fury didn’t make himself look strong with the whole public depression thing

Simple, Wilder had absolutely nothing on his resume. In his commercial discussions with Joshua, he had no relevance except for his belt.

So he tried the time honoured trick of fighting a credible opponent at the right time. That's the art of matchmaking.

He got it wrong. The worst version of Fury beats Wilder.

Mind you, some people rank him second now he's been beaten by Fury 3 times, so maybe he didn't get it completely wrong.
