  • Comments Thread For: Moises Fuentes Remains Hospitalized, Health Improves Following Emergency Surgery

Moises Fuentes is not yet out of the woods but in a far better place than he was 24 hours ago. The fallen former strawweight titlist responded well to emergency surgery performed Sunday morning following a brutal knockout loss to David Cuellar. Boxing Scene.com has been informed by event handlers from Saturday's show in Cancun that Fuentes will need to remain hospitalized through at least Wednesday, though cautiously optimistic that his health will continue to improve.

He's not a journeyman, he's just washed up.

Through April 2016 he was 24-2-1 with the losses and draws coming against Donnie Nietes and Juan Hernandez. He won the WBO strawweight title (two defenses) and the WBO interim light flyweight title. He had wins over former world champions Raul Garcia, Ivan Calderon, Oswaldo Novoa, and Francisco Rodriguez Jr plus the aforementioned draw with Nietes.

        He just got old.

Exactly! Anyone calling him a journeyman clearly does not follow those lower weight classes. He has never been a journeyman. He is a former world champion with notable fights on his resume but just doesn't have it anymore at 36.

Haven't seen the fight but certainly sounds like the corner has a lot to answer for.

I was very saddened, albeit not surprised to hear that Moises Fuentes would be fighting for his life after seeing the shot that had him out on his feet before his head hit the canvas twice.
My thoughts and well wishes are with him and his family during this trying time.
Hoping for a quick recovery champ!
