    Is Morales the next Sanchez...?

If Morales beats Manny Pacquiao, Is he a level above The Great Salvador Sanchez...? I read at another site that Morales-Pacquiao is bigger than Sanchez-Gomez!! I really don't know much about Sanchez except that he is upthere with Chavez as two of the Great Mexican Boxers of all time! With Chavez being number one and Sanchez number two. People say Sanchez became a legeng by beating Gomez. Can the same be said of Morales if he beats Pacquiao???

    Any opinions?

morales is good and possibly great but he is not sanchez. Sanchez was cut down in his prime after knocking out Wilfredo Gomez and Azumah Nelson, both monsters of the ring. He is like a mexican legend or god that may have done greater things had he lived. A victory over pac will be great on Morales' resume but he would have to do a lot more of the same to catch up to sanchez...Rockin'

No way, a reason for sanchez's legend is because he had done so much so early in his career. If Morales wins he'll gain alot but he still won't be on Sanchez's level. Sanchez just had way too much potential. Gomez seemed alot more invincible than does Pacquiao and Sanchez tore him apart. Also he then knocked out Nelson, people say nelson was too young but he was a year older than sanchez. Unless morales can conquer lightweight after this i dont think he'll be seen on the same level as sanchez or chavez, not to say he isn't great in his own right.

even if he beats pac he is still too far from comparing to Sal.

with respect to both fighters, i think morales should not be compared to sanchez or vice-versa. both fighters fought for their own place in history, as what other athletes do, and putting one behind the shadow of another is a slap in their faces.

It is only fair to rank fighters on achievement, not potential. Eric has had a fabulous career so far and he isn't 30 yet. Right now Sanchez is higher but that could all change.
