Promoters need to start underpaying their fighters

Fighters are getting paid way too much to beat up bums and low opposition, in advance they also want more money than their worth to fight someone on their level.

We need someone like Don King to come and rob some fighters so, we can actually see the best fight the best and their zero won't mean anything, anymore.

I actually agree. People say the UFC underpays their fighters but it's more like boxing overpays. What incentive does a guy like Gervonta Davis have to step up and fight better competition when he can just keep fighting overmatched guys and racking up the easy paydays? I use him as an example but boxing is full of such cases.

This is the exact reason Spence vs. Crawford hasn't happened. These guys already make big paydays every single time out no matter who they fight, so to fight each other in a high risk fight they want significantly more. Where is all that extra money supposed to come from? It's not gonna be a mainstream PPV success. Neither of them are "stars", especially Crawford. They're not willing to take less so the fight doesn't happen, all because they're overpaid in the first place. It's killing boxing.

Boxers deserve to be well paid, I'm not arguing otherwise. But they shouldn't be paid silly money for easy fights. Cut that out and things will start falling in line.

      What are you talking about?

NSB just got done ranting about Ellerbe "underpaying" Rolly Romero for the Tank fight.

Nobody cares about that bum and nobody wants to see that damn fight because it's a sacrifice for Tank. See that's what I'm talking about.

Rolly, isn't even in the same league as Tank nor does he have the skills to pose any sort of threat to him.

He could be fighting Teo, Loma, or Haney but, instead he fight's a guy that got out boxed by a no name in Jackson Martinez.

Exactly! There's no incentive to really step up and prove that your the best anymore! All a boxer has to do is price themselves out and claim that the other fighter, is ducking them. Idk the situation about the fighter pay in the UFC but, at least the best fight the best there.

Some of the little guys would disagree but yes in general some fighters are paid way too much.

That's what I mean about the UFC. Because they don't overpay their fighters, everybody's hungry. There are no easy fights. Everybody gets matched up in competitive fights and the cream rises to the top. Even their undercards are stacked, so if the main event turns out to be a dud people still get their money's worth. I can't remember the last time there was a boxing undercard worth a damn.

I say this as a lifelong boxing fan and only a casual fan of MMA, by the way. I see what they're doing and it pisses me off because that's what boxing should be like. We have the fighters, we just don't have the fights. Everyone is so damn risk averse in this day and age because they can afford to be.

Yeah I agree, the lower weight classes are an exception. Not by chance, it's also where you find the best fighting the best more often.
