Why Boxing Fans Fall In Love So Easily w/ A Big Punch

And it isn’t just casuals who are guilty of this

Hardcore boxing fans [meaning guys who post on forums] fall for it too

I’m no expert but time and time again big punch guy gets beat by the more skilled stylish fighter

I can understand the love for a ggg. He has much skill to go with his big punch

but a Deontay. He was limited and PROUD OF IT TOO

“I only need be perfect for 2 seconds.” - Deontay

Wilder fights to his strengths. At HW it's a smart way to fight, trying to land the right hand. Remember when Porter tried to box Ugas. Stick to what you do well

Of course people fall in love with a big puncher. It is what puts a lot of asses in seats. You mean to tell me, all the MMA fans that hate boxing and complain that there is too much holding or moving aren't into that either? KO's are the core of combat. It is the ultimate dispatching of your opponent. Sure, out boxing someone is pleasing to watch if you're a hardcore fan, but a lot of people could totally careless of that. They want the drama and the KO produces the drama.

With that said, Deontay would deliver those. I'm still a huge fan of his no matter he can't box well and took two losses (to the same guy). I'll watch him fight a punching bag at this point on his next match. He's just exciting to watch.

Fans like knockouts. No one wants to see a guy dance his way to a controversial decision. Knockouts are finite. No controversy over bad judging or refs. Wilder was never had a big fanbase to begin with. Now he can go back to knocking out cans and no-hopers until a beatable champion comes along.
