Belts mean nothing in boxing there are so many and the sanctioning bodies are so crooked. Saunders got his from beating Shefat Isufi a guy no one ever heard of. Plant got his beating Uzcategui a borderline B/C level fighter. Clenelo has fought 3 top tier fighters in his career: Mayweather Loss, Lara Draw, Golovkin Loss, Golovkin 2 Draw.

Nobody in industry said, since 2014, that Canelo lost to Lara. There’s no certainty from that even from pros. At best you always hear “Lara gave Canelo problems” because that’s the only fight in his entire career where he took the most shots to the face from a PURE BOXER of the Cuban school, yet, Canelo had to resort to old school brawling trying to close the ring and landed power punches to the body. Everyone saw it. So call it a Draw, it was up for grabs in that fight. There is no “Lara beat Canelo.” Fans and pros take the circumstance that Canelo beat Lara, and from the two, only one has EXPONENTIALLY improved. That’s why it’s pointless trying to sucker fans in forums that Lara was Canelo’s problem when that was soooo many years ago and no two fight the same as before. If that was a prime Lara, then Canelo is on another level.

GGG faded away from the game because of Canelo. No real desire. Perhaps the Derevyanchenko fight discouraged GGG to continue his career. Future boxing schools will learn more from those fights with a divide of boxers choosing which one to emulate. That’s not theory. This happens. When boxers will choose the Canelo blueprint to beat guys like GGG the mysticism and fans of today vanish. Nobody cares for Euros wanting a Kazakh to dethrone Canelo. I'm not so sure. Canelo couldn't knock down Daniel Jacobs, and laboured to a so so points win then. Plant is better than Jacobs, Smith and Saunders.

It just depends will he be as sharp in the second half of the fight, when Canelo brings on the heat more intensely.

How is plane better than Jacobs and Saunders?

Canelo picked Plant to get the easy KO and everyone secretly knows it. It's certainly a free network level "must see" but PPV worthy? NO! I'm sorry but I can't bring myself to pay for another Yildirim or a rerun of BJS part II knowing the fight was always meant to look competitive for about 4-6 rounds and then end abruptly.

On the more positive side, Plant may be a powder puncher but at least he's in his prime without multiple losses or on the down side and and that alone should provide just enough hope to convince some to rack-up their credit cards.
