Styles make fights, right? People wrote off Helenius a while back, too. Now he's on the cusp of a title shot. He'll be an underdog, but it's any given Saturday in boxing, especially in the heavyweight division. The Nordic Nightmare (great nickname, btw) is making a good career out of the sport.

Kownacki, like every fighter, needs to keep working to amplify his good qualities and minimize his bad ones. He can continue to have a good career, too. Not everybody is going to be top level. But, he can get back in the mix. And he's been in entertaining scraps. There are a lot of good fights and matchups to be made in the HW division. I'll still tune in to watch Babyface.

Kownacki is extremely limited. Plods forward. Then plods forward. Eats a 1-2, then plows forward.

Injuries & knockout losses to Duhaupus & Washington in fights he was winning probably took it’s toll. He got rejuvenated after stopping Kownacki in a fight he was losing. He looked like his old self in this fight. Hopefully he can build on it. He is near the top of the WBA rankings. Bryan or Hunter next? He beats either of them & he could be the next WBA mandatory. Not sure what is happening with the regular/interim BS…

I find it remarkable he has a bunch of US fans and those same fans would criticise Joe Joyce, Dubois, AJ, Whyte, some star spangled bias there for sure

This fight went almost exactly as their previous one. I'm surprised that Kownacki added nothing to his defensive game and made no adjustments from the first fight.

He had over a year and a half to work on it.

Kownacki seriously needs to consider retirement....he's walking "irreparable brain damage" just waiting to happen

              He'll probably face Wilder next...lol

Not sure. A well-respected trainer used to talk about 'game quitters'. He said most boxers come from rough backgrounds, they've been beaten up by their parents, at school, on the streets, by the police etc. They can take another beating. A guy that has 'heart' is a guy who, no matter how bad it gets, always is trying to win. If you accept you've lost but just stand there & take the punishment you're not that, you're a game quitter. I know that sounds harsh but when fight fans talk about the guys they most admire, like Marciano, Holyfield, Frazier, etc, they don't admire them because they could just soak up shots. They admire them because they never stopped believing they would win. In fairness, Deontay definitely has 'heart', he carried on trying to win long after everyone could see it was hopeless.
One of the best explanations of this concept I've read. Agree 100%, and that's why Holyfield was and still is my favorite fighter of all time. And why I went from disliking Gatti early in his career to having nothing but respect. Then there was Kermit Citron who I watched just submit to Canelo. And so many others, like Tyson when he fought Lewis...his spirit was just gone. Rock Newman called Holyfield, "that damn pitbull from Georgia". It's like a line from Spider-Man in one of the most epic comic book endings of the 80's...."I am who I am, and I won't stop fighting until I'm dead. And maybe not even then". That line chills my spine everytime I think about it.
