The state of Jay Deas. Standing there with his 5h1t eating grin like they didn't dump all over his long-time and trusted colleague. hanger on. Pathetic.

“Emanuel would have tried to influence him to stand back, never give away his height and reach advantages, don't lunge forward, make opponents increase their own vulnerability by coming forward toward his power,”
Not against Fury, Manny wouldn't have. That's BS. Because Manny would have known that such a strategy was a surefire way to take an L against Tyson Fury.

This article writer apparently didn't watch the first fight because that's exactly what Wilder tried to do. Yes, he got two knockdowns - but it didn't matter, because Fury was dominant even in the rounds he got dropped, thus the draw.

The only way to get Tyson Fury out of there is aggression. "All In" Wallin showed the way, but he wasn't skilled or strong enough to capitalize, same as USS Cunningham.

Wilder is probably the only guy who can beat Tyson Fury at this point, but he has to go after Fury. Don't let him think, don't let him set, don't let him plan. He's going to expect you to be intimidated by him again just like you were in the second fight - prove him wrong. Go after him. Do what Danny Jacobs did to Peter Quillin. That's the answer here.

Treat him like you treated Stiverne in the first round of the first fight - just go after him with a focus on landing, because Tyson Fury is going do his "INCOMING!!!" coverup crap and leave himself vulnerable. If you do enough of that, he's going to get rattled.

This is what I want to see, with Fury instead of Stiverne...I want white girls in absolute shock at what looks like a murder in the ring. I want the ref to take flight. I want Wilder unhinged.

The trouble with this is that Wilder doesn't have a height or reach advantage over Fury.

He has a small height and reach deficit, a big weight deficit and an enormous ring IQ deficit. It's a tough ask.

Mike Tyson changed coaches 20 times in his career, but nothing about him changed over time, except maybe losing his jab and endurance.

What's the over/under on the number of excuses Wilder will have this time?

The fortunate thing for Wilder is there is always a chance of that happening with Fury's inconsistency so he can have some hope.

The reality is Wilder doesn't deserve this fight, and Fury should be undisputed champion right now, but he's forced his undeserved rematch clause after losing twice and making the most pathetic list of excuses in boxing history, so he BETTER be bringing something to this fight because if he just gets murked again I'll be happy to see him never fight again tbh.
Wilder absolutely deserves this fight. It was in the contract, which is why the arbitrator ruled in his favor. Wilder gave Fury a shot in the first fight when he didn't have to as Tyson wasn't a mandatory and then he gave Fury a second fight when he didn't have to. Fury's team tried to get out of the signed contract for the third fight to cash in on a Joshua fight for all the belts. Like it or not (and it's obviously "not") this is the fight that should be happening. I'm looking forward to it.

Mate, this is a column on a boxing website, not the Washington Post. It’s not supposed to be news, it’s just a conduit for his opinion or whatever ****e oozes from his brain. And that’s fine. Because it’s a column.

Emanuel Steward worked wonders with a gangly Detroit welterweight with a long reach and a huge right hand, then made dominant long-term champions out of a pair of recent heavyweights – Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko – whose most defining characteristics were height, length and power.
Couldn't agree more. Steward was a brilliant trainer and would have ironed out any flaws with Wilder. RIP.
