Yes, once in awhile they have a surprise for the boxing world. Maidana was a good surprise recently.

Brazil is the one that baffles me. They have enough people there to have a great boxing scene but have not really produced any decent one since Popo Freitas.

Brazil is more focused on mma..especially with the invention of brazilian jiu jitsu in the 30's... Maybe America's influence on Mexico and PR has something to do with it, since boxing was so popular in the US during the "golden age"
