Article seems to be labouring under the illusion that Joshua has fought cautiously his whole career.

Caution entered his approach because of what happened in Ruiz I. And it happened fast in the way the author asserts cannot happen the other way.

I think Joshua will see what happened of a result of too little aggression and there will be a reaction.

Joshua is the only fighter I know that the general public has demanded twice over both his losses to retire

Excepting Marciano...with heavyweights, that eventually happens if they fight long enough.

With that said...he does appear to need a little more savagery in him to KEEP the titles not just win them. I think it may be hunger that is lacking.
First of all, Klitschko was 41, on the verge of retiring, and yet almost had him out after being KD himself. As for Whyte, well I could never consider him a top heavyweight.

This said, on those 2 occasions, he almost dropped the ball, and I think those were signs of things to come with Ruiz and Usyk. He seems incapable of seizing the moment; the pressure and the emotion of the big fight seem to overwhelm him. Thus my statement of his lack of character.

Just read the article titled "Injection of intensity" recently posted on this site. Basically says the same thing, in a just slightly more respectful and polite manner.

Since he came on the broader scene, I've felt AJ was more hype than real. I thought (and still do) that Wilder would knock him out cold. I pick Fury to whoop him. His chin is definitely vulnerable and his engine is suspect (too much muscle mass?). That being said, I've come to appreciate him over the years. He seems like a good dude. He isn't ducking anybody. He tries, owns up to his losses, and is humble. That should all be appreciated. As far this article, I think Lyle is off his rocker, as are a lot of people posting here. I don't think AJ will win the rematch, but I think it'll be close. And he absolutely could win. The fight was even after 8 rounds. Yes, class shows over time, but AJ doesn't need a complete makeover to win.

As for the comment that AJ's career is over if he loses again to Usyk, how absurd. Look at his fanbase. As Joshua alluded to himself, people would want to see him fight a lot of different fighters, belts or no. And as the adage goes, styles make fights. Maybe Usyk just has his number. Maybe Fury has Wilder's number. That doesn't mean Joshua can't be in entertaining scraps and get a lot more W's. Maybe even another belt. People need to pump the brakes on his demise. Yeah, he was never going to be an ATG, but so what? I'd always rather watch him than boring Wladimir Klitschko. Hell, Klitschko's most entertaining fight was probably the one against Joshua.

Joshua lost to Oleksander Usyk, arguably one of the best boxers in the game. The man who dominated and cleared out the CW division. He didn't kick Joshua's ass. He outboxed him and nearly finished him at the end when he was exhausted. AJ also lost to Andy Ruiz. And while he may look like a reigning pie eating contest champion, the kid can ****. Few big names want to get in the ring with him. And from these two losses, Fitzsimmons is essentially saying Joshua's career is over. I've noticed that many of Lyles's articles border on being pure trash and this one is no exception.

Listen...I really like AJ but my biggest fears about him are finally realized....I just think AJ is too damn soft......big and strong puncher....but he's just soft imo. Too damn friendly with his opponents.

With that said...I think it was good that Big Baby miller got popped because I think Jarell Miller would've done a number on Joshua just like Ruiz did that night.

It's super simple. AJ should have been in Usyks chest from round 1 trying to get him out of there. Hell even if he doesn't knock him out he can damage him which was evident. Why fight like a ***** I mean really. You can't box like Usyk don't even try. Usyk doesn't have your power, why not show him from 1 second into round 1. Makes zero sense.

Miller is nothing special. He hasn't fought anyone. I think his style was custom made for pre Ruiz AJ who would have fought toe to toe with him and had way superior skills. Listen Miller will never fight again but its probably best because he was a roided up Arreola.

Lewis avoided southpaws ,he was very weary of Chris Byrd and I heard Sanders was also a guy Lewis was never going to fight who is no Usyk so all this talk about giving Lewis credit now for Usyks win shows how ridiculous boxing gets ,it’s like everyone is rewarded the win but actually Usyk who may be the best southpaw we’ve seen at heavyweight though I’d still see an aggressive A.J winning ,it wasn’t a blow out if you stop and realize all competitive fights that the favored is supposed to win doesn’t mean it shouldn’t get exaggerated, the rounds were very close besides the last 2 .

Lampley you do know Usyk was the mandatory ? Why is this guy blaming Hearn for making the Usyk fight ? You really can’t win with these guys if he didn’t fight him they would be calling it a duck .
