Comments Thread For: Casimero-Butler: WBO Schedules October 7 Purse Bid After Talks Cut Short

John Riel Casimero could see his next title defense fall in the hands of the highest bidder. A purse bid hearing was called by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) for the ordered bantamweight title fight between defending champion Casimero and mandatory challenger Paul Butler. The ruling comes just five days after the two sides were granted a 20-day negotiation period, only for Butler's team--headed by Lee Eaton of MTK Global--to request the matter to go straight to a purse bid scheduled for October 7 at WBO headquarters in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

I was just watching Paul Butler's last fight against bum Willibaldo Garcia on the MTK-GLOBAL Youtube boxing channel. In spite of dropping Willibaldo Garcia and dominating the first round, Butler was pushed back against the ropes and pounded for most of the fight by the Mexican.

That clown Sunny Edwards was doing some commentating ; he basically butter-upped Paul Bulter's stagnant work of two or three limp-wristed punches a round, and dismissed/belittled the effective relentless pressure from Willibaldo by describing Garcia's great effort as a necessity for lack of skills ; in the same round ( round 8 ) that Garcia had busted Paul Butler's nose, leaving Butler's face a bloody-mess. I wanted to slap Sunny Edwards.

But the true representation of events lies in the scoring, Paul Butler won a razor-thin decision by way of spit-decision. There is no chance in hell that Paul Butler goes the distance with John Riel Casimero, especially if he actually makes the 118 weight limit ; unlike the last time that he lost his shot at the IBF on the scales vs. Manny Rodriguez.

The promoters have to make the fights between Inoue/Donaire and Casimero. I believe they are cooking it in December. They just need the money and believe me, it will come. 3 fights in a yr? Lucky Casimero.

This seems like a lot of work for a fight no one will watch.

So Paul Butler beats an unknown Mexican journeyman by SD (if its SD in the UK it usually means you lost) and now he fights for the title!

Casimero allegedly messed up and tried to negotiate with Donaire directly. Also tried to send a message to Top Rank that he wanted to sign with them allegedly directly breaching his current contract.

Promoters seemed to have taken offence and allegedly freezing him out. Nonito Donaire now giving advice to Casimero brothers live on YouTube.
