I just don't see anyone between 160-168 who I'd pick to give Canelo anything close to a pickem match. And if we're gonna extend the range to 175 (which even considering that already says a lot) there's just Bivol and Beterbiev who are definitely dangerous fights but really only because of the size difference. Maybe Jermall Charlo in a year or two after a careful jump up to super middle. But otherwise yeah to me the essence of pound for pound is a guy so good nobody across 3 weight divisions feels they can credibly threaten them and that's Canelo right now for sure.

Barring a very surprising Nov 6 I don't see how anyone argues Canelo out of the number one spot but Usyk's win tonight puts him at my #3 spot behind #2 Inoue and I could even be talked into switching 2 and 3. It's pretty rare to see a heavyweight who you can imagine dominating with their fighting style if they were sized like a smaller division fighter, but like... if a hypothetical 168 pound dimensioned Usyk could fight Canelo at 168 I'm not sure I would be able to pick the winner better than a coin flip.

Usyk aint fighting bums with trinkets though. Fcuk Inoue, Usyk is the pinnacle definition if p4p.

Not choosing the path of the least resistance. picking & choosing the weakest belt holders & then running off to another division to do the same. All the while, likely being loaded to the gills, with the judges in his back pocket. if you think thats p4p no .1 kind of material then alright

I guess I have to ask again. What do you think Canelo should be doing instead? Who do you think he should be fighting that he hasn't fought?

I looked through the Ring, TBRB, and ESPN heavyweight rankings and Usyk now has wins over three concensus top-10 heavyweights. Joshua, Joyce (WSB), and Hunter (at cruiserweight).

If Crawford can be rated so high based on unifying 140 then doing the minimum at 147 then Usyk should be #3 definitely

Inoue for me is largely the eye test, I love guys who attack the body but what Inoue does is more like watching a building get demolished.

Usyk is now eye test backed up by unifying all belts at cruiser and becoming a holder of multiple belts at heavyweight.
