Thats incorrect. People of all races from these states can be both hicks and hillbillies. But the term hillbilly is usually ascribed to the harcore hicks. The kind that might make moonshine in a jug and play the fiddle barefoot. Hillbillies are most commonly found in mountainous regions like West ******ia and in the Appalacians.(where it is a proud culture) But can actually come from many other states like Tennessee or Mississipi , Alabama, Kentucky, etc. But usually those are just country hicks and the hillbilly moniker is used for derogatory effect.
If you ever see the Steve Martin film 'The Jerk', he's raised by some black hillbillies. Go to a gas station in Tuscaloosa and you'll see some black hicks.

You obviously didn't watch the fight. Andrade clearly beat Vanes and the one scorecard for Vanes was highly criticized. He was knocked down but so what? That's boxing. Canelo was staggered by Cotto's brother. It has absolutely nothing to do with what would happen if they fought each other.

I cannot disagree with anything you said. I was born and raised in DC my entire life, but I have an extended family in North Carolina and Alabama. North Carolina is in the south but not overly country. Alabama, different story! The perception that hillbillies are white wild and southern sort of true and there are a lot of blacks that act the same way, Wilder is one of them. But I think what people are trying to get across to you that if you are not part of that race or from that region then maybe you should refrain from using that term, because it can come across as very racist, even if those folk are proud of it. And please dont ever use a dumb hollywood movie as evidence of your claim.
