Are we focusing too much on your performance vs Chisora, or are YOU?

Unfortunately he might be boxing beautifully for like 8, 9 rounds only to be caught with something. I'm rooting for you.
You posted my feelings exactly! Verbatim!

To be honest I think Usyk could of been a light heavyweight as well if he wanted to lol.

Usyk is making the point that Chisora was not a piece of cake... I can live with that now, because initially his reaction was very different. He felt the he had failed to do what he set out to do against Chisora and has subsequently made adjustments. I think it speaks highly of a fighter who is willing to look at a fight that they "won" and realize that changes have to be made... not adjustments, not fine tuning... but real wholesale changes.

For Usyk I think he realized that a lot of what he does well in the ring depends on him being strong physically and that he sort of went into a pattern of being too primarily evasive. I have faith in his line of reasoning and execution. We shall see!

When one looks at a "heavyweight" and what makes one, you will get more perspective the farther back you go into the history of the sport. for most of the history of boxing, the idea of a natural heavyweight would be whimsical. It was originally so that there were no weight divisions. When fighters fought, it was to each his advantages... the bigger fellow had the power, the smaller fellow had speed and endurance over a course of a fight which could last for hours on end...

As the gloves got bigger, as punchers could use full force and not break a hand, and as a smaller man could not get the bone to bone connection of a well placed shot to a vital area, we eventually got weight divisions. Even during these weight divisions smaller fighters could come up and fight for the title. Bill Fitzimmons, Gene Tunney and others won heavyweight championships. But if one looks carefully, at 168 or so, Fitz may have weighed less, but from the waist up his chest, hands, wrists, shoulders were enormous.

So what exactly is a "natural" heavyweight? the mean for the division from the 1920's on is probably about 220 to 240. But is weight everything? James Toney was competitive in the division fighting some of the best, and truly was a blown up middle weight. Holyfield had no problems negating size... Michael Moore is another one, history will tell us about many others like Ezzard Charles, Michael Moore, etc.

Im going to go on record and say: I do not think Usyk is a natural heavyweight. I think it is because of the size of his bones, his wrists, ankles, shoulders... Not his weight. People can carry weight who have a small, or medium frame. If you look at Foreman for example, while he weighed what Uysk weighs now, or weighed less... his frame is larger, more dense, his bones are larger.

But, not being a natural heavyweight does not appear to be a reason why someone can not fight heavyweight, which is still technically a division with no weight limitations in either direction. Certainly having greater bone density, bigger joints, creates a more efficient medium to exchange power. But, there are caveats to this principle of a natural heavyweight. Most of the elite punchers in the division are not the bigger heavyweights. According to any principle of natural size and power in the division Fury should be knockin em dead! Valuev should have been what Max Bauer was 60 years before him! Bauer who weighed in at around 190ish was one of the more devastating punchers, Valuev at 300 pounds or so, not any fat to speak of, was never a big puncher.

My point in unpacking this notion of the "natural heavyweight" is it does not really determine as much as one may think it does. It is one of those phrases that we, in the boxing community like to bandy around... But to what end?

That may be so, I probably have recently. He could very well be much better at HW than he's had to be so far at HW.
