My thoughts on Mosley-Clottey and why im picking..

    clottey to win.

now we all know mosley is coming off of a great performance. but like ive said before margarito was caught trying to cheat and when he goes in there to fight without plaster he gets exposed to looking like an F level fighter against mosley. so when you think about it how great was that performance in reality? if mosley had been looking on top of his game before the fight than i would not be bringing this up as much of a factor.

but he wasnt looking on top of his game. because just 4 months previous to the margarito fight he fought a washed up ricardo mayorga who was never the most technically sound fighter. and mosley was having BIG problems with mayorga and in my opinon was losing up until the final round where he knocked mayorga out. so in my opinion mosley is more past it than some realize.

keep in mind also he will be coming off of almost a year layoff when he steps inside the ring with clottey. (this is just my opinion and view on things)

now clottey is coming off of a decision loss to miguel cotto in which many thought he won the fight, including me. so he is still on top of his game.

i see this fight going like this. mosley's speed will be neutralized by clottey's defense, jab and lead right hand which mosley is wide open for. i also see mosley trying to clinch clottey to get his stuff together, but he will fail to do so because yes he may be the taller fighter but physically he is much smaller frame wise, i see clottey out muscling him inside and will be firing left hooks to the body. shane then will get frustrated and off of his game and will start throwing wild punches, which will leave him even more susceptible to counters from clottey. i see clottey winning by UD with scores of 116-112.

NOTE: i am not comparing his losses to winky wright as a blue print for a clottey win, because in my opinion wright and clottey are completely different fighters with the only similarity is that they both use the earmuff defense, and even that they use the defense differently than one another.

let me know what you think, and what your analysis is and why you feel it will play out a certain way.

SSM is 38 and has had a long layoff. His longs were gone a long time ago, tho he remains a decent percentage of his prime self this late in his career. The layoff will hurt him, cuz some movement is needed to beat Clottey. The fight will be waged more on the inside than SSM would like, but his handspeed and power will be enuf to edge a 7-5 UD imo. I don't see either guy hurtin the other, so harder shots and more volume from SSM should steal it for him. But I won't be surprised if Clottey beats him.

maybe so, but i dont think that was as much the case as mosley being past it, but hey thats just my opinion, and i respect yours.

margo barely touched mosley and by the time the plaster would've hardened, mosley was already beating the ***** out of margo.

it didn't matter, mosley was gonna win impressively and dramatically either way.

mayorga weighed 170+ lbs when mosley fought him. also mayorga has a herky jerky style and shane has better speed than timing.

any WW that fought mayorga would've struggled against mayorga and I doubt they would KTFO mayorga like mosley did.

keep in mind also he will be coming off of almost a year layoff when he steps inside the ring with clottey. (this is just my opinion and view on things)
true, mosley is coming off a long layoff. but mosley is a gym rat.

clottey lost that fight. he gave away the last couple of rounds. at his best, against the best opponents he's faced he lost.... that means he at best is a contender and at worst a gatekeeper.

i see this fight going like this. mosley's speed will be neutralized by clottey's defense, jab and lead right hand which mosley is wide open for.
nope, clottey will get stuck in a defensive shell while mosley is active.

the jab and right hand mosley can disrupt by clinching or staying on his toes. also clottey does not let his hands go enough.

i also see mosley trying to clinch clottey to get his stuff together, but he will fail to do so because yes he may be the taller fighter but physically he is much smaller frame wise,
mosley is a strong dude, but clottey is bigger. what mosley has to watch out for in the clinch are clottey's uppercuts.

i see clottey out muscling him inside
nope, clottey is not a great inside fighter.

and will be firing left hooks to the body.
                  nope, look for uppercuts tho.

shane then will get frustrated and off of his game and will start throwing wild punches,
shane has to understand that he has to outwork clottey... this is up to ****m to keep shane focused.

which will leave him even more susceptible to counters from clottey.
the only counter mosley needs too look for is the right hand.

i see clottey winning by UD with scores of 116-112.

your stating your opinions as if they are facts. ill agree to disagree with you..but i just get the impression you dont like clottey. also how is he not a good inside fighter? you got to be joking with me..how many of his fights have you watched? im also getting sick and tired of hearing people say he doesnt let his hands go. ive already had this conversation with you in another thread..cotto was literally running from him in the last couple rounds and every time clottey got close cotto clinched him. and in the margarito fight he injured his hand, which i dont think was BS because he went from whooping margarito's ass the first 4 or 5 rounds to not throwing ANY punches at all in the very next round..you mean to tell me he gassed? its like you dont want to give the dude any credit at all..i swear some of the people on here are ridiculous
