Comments Thread For: Valdez-Conceicao: Judge Admits To Poor Performance In Offering Wide Scorecard

In a sport where suspect scoring has become par for the course, one judge has taken ownership of his own contribution to the disturbing trend. Veteran official Stephen Blea agrees with the commentary that his latest judging performance warrants harsh criticism. Blea was among three ringside judges who had Oscar Valdez prevailing over Brazil's Robson Conceicao (16-1, 8KOs) this past Friday at Casino del Sol's AVA Amphitheater in Valdez's childhood hometown of Tucson, Arizona.

Crowd noise influence – It was a loud crowd in favor of Valdez,
      This is often the reason.

      Mayweather / Maidana

      Maestre / Fox

This is unprecedented. Respect to the judge. Hopefully others follow suit. And an interesting point brought up is being between photographers and the cameras, obstructing his view of the action. I hope this brings about action to resolve this particular issue.. Maybe elevated seating

Cut the bull. Suliaman and Bob had the scam going since the fight was signed. That’s when you filled out your scorecard.

Poor performance my foot. Some how the visiting fighter / underdog is almost always on the receiving end a judge's "poor performance" . I wonder why.

Guess the pressure is rising but this isn't good enough! Heads need to roll from the top down and that belt Stripped from the drug user, the very least a no contest and a rematch! That Ref taking a point away from Conceicao for tapping Valdez on his back and head so they can break cleanly while giving Valdez 3 WARNINGS for some serious hits behind hits behind the head. This is bigger than this fool!

He's leaving out the part where he's a WBC employee and Mauricio's buddy.

It doesn't matter to me that the judge with the most ridiculous scorecard is now admitting he was totally out to lunch. The damage has been done. He got paid, probably extra under the table and now his conscience is getting to him? What a clown. You've already further damaged the horrible reputation of pro boxing. Go back to the gutter where you belong you corrupt piece of human garbage Blea.

I totally agree. His admission of guilt changes nothing.
