This is what is wrong with boxing, it's become a money ploy because of guys like the Paul brothers, now anyone and everyone think they can box the best for a huge payday. I hope this $hi+ stops soon before someone gets seriously hurt.

I have heard of Vitor Belfort before, growing up. But I admit I did not know much about him and what was his level of success in MMA. I assumed it was very good but I assumed wrong I think. He has a ton of losses by TKO/Punches. I guess he is chasing money in boxing. I hope Canelo completely ignores him.
I am assuming in MMA if you lose 15-20 times you can still be considered “good”?
What I would consider to be good is like Jon Jones, GSP, Khabib, Usman, Covington, etc.
McGregor is 1-3 in his last 4 fights and is still ranked #9 at Lightweight. That would absolutely not happen in boxing. Boxing publications/journalists/fans drop top 3 boxers to #7-10 with 1 loss. A second loss would get them completely off the list. And going 1-3 would make fans/writers call for the boxer to retire. But in MMA, back to back brutal losses do not seem to affect a fighter’s ranking all that much?

Vitor won a fight at heavyweight, then immediately starts calling-out a 168lb fighter. ridiculous.and unethical.
First of all, Vitor weighed at least 206lbs when he entered the ring to fight Holyfield, and there was no way
that he was actually going to make weight had Delahoya not withdrawn as his original opponent.
Vitor's physique is not natural. Even if Canelo was interested, I seriously doubt Vitor could actually make 185lbs.
If you want to be a boxer, then you should be looking to fight people within your own weight class!
Calling-out much smaller men is undignified and shows a lack of respect for the sport.

Nobody’s gonna fight an unranked washed up MMA fighter who knows nothing about Boxing, Holyfield took a dive , he needed the money, he’s got 14 kids owes thousands child support, if he really wanted too he would of Knocked you out and you would of never gotten up, Holy is laughing all the way to the bank, your not even a heavyweight, not even ranked, Oscar is a natural Welterweight, he has nothing to gain by fighting an old unranked non boxer, so stop this scam alreadyComment

It's apples and oranges really. The fighters you mentioned as good are arguably some of the best (and some of them best ever). Vitor was also very good but his heyday was at a time when MMA was still evolving. His best years were when you still had fighters coming from a single martial arts discipline. Vitor also often fought juiced to the gills. Ultimately the game passed him by.
Criticizing MMA rankings as a boxing fan is a bit like throwing stones from a glass house. As for the losses, in my opinion, MMA fighters often fight more dangerous opponents early on in their careers and accrue losses. They don't have the luxury of fighting cans for big pay days like th elite of boxing. Losses are not as taboo in MMA as they are in boxing these days. If you go back not too long ago, alot of boxing's top fighters often had numerous losses.
I follow MMA but I'm a boxing fan. I much prefer boxing to MMA but they are two very different combat sports in alot of different ways.
