Should Lopez feel compelled to rematch Loma? No, he shouldn't have to and if he was ploughing on with fighting other decent options, I think no one could complain. Therein is the problem though. He hasn't fought anyone. The Kambosos fight doesn't excite anyone in the northern hemisphere and they are taking forever to put the fight on.

I do suspect he is wary of rematching Loma. As I said, I think it's OK not to have that fight, but it is one of the better options available at LW. At the same time, maybe Loma should fight Haney and try and get the belt, which would give him a more compelling case for a rematch.

The inactivity is frustrating.

I had to agree with the brilliant plan that Teofimo shared with Timothy Bradley on this weeks Toprank telecast, a catchweight with the 'Tart-Tomato' Josh Taylor at 137½ for the jr. welterweight undisputed championship sounds more promising for Lopez ; a fair point in using Gervonta Davis vs. Leo Santa Cruz fighting at 130 as a good example

But if Teofimo Lopez leaves lightweight for good, Vasily Lomachenko can have his pick of Teofimo's vacant belts against a ranked bum and then try to beat Devin Haney in a unification on DAZN. It would be a fresh start for Lomachenka, I know that avenging losses has not worked out well for Vasily, so in essence Teo is actually doing Vasily a great service.

Loma is ranked the #1 by the wbo and wbc, so if he wants to move on to 140 so be it, if not he either fights or vacates.

At no point in the fight was Loma "Destroyed". You have to ask yourself why you want to imagine this delusion as reality?

It was a draw. Loma had his titles stolen. And now Lopez wants to run. Like Ruiz did. Like Rahman did. Like Salido did etc etc...

The worst thing for me is how Arum did Loma dirty by not including a rematch clause. Eddie would have never let that happen and now, with Loma still in his prime or very close to it, he is completely frozen out of the division - nobody even mentions his name as if he doesn't exist. Not Eddie, not Mayweather, only Haney did bla-bla-bla on Twitter and it stayed there. I followed Eddie long enough to know when he wants to match the fighters - he won't shut up about it. But Loma is just not name he remembers. Because they all know Loma is still the man in the division and can take the belt away from anyone. Lopez is simply waiting Loma out. Give it a couple of years and Lopez will change his tune to: now, that Loma has earned his shot, I'll give him a rematch as you, fans, wanted it. Loma might not have 2 more years to perform at this level, the decision not to have a rematch clause has probably ruined Loma's career, who has the potential to become an ATG. A great shame, Loma deserves better - he is a remarkable boxer of historical significance and is falling prey to boxing politics and ducking.

If Lopez beats Kombosos and fights another top 135 or moves up to 140 against a good contender there is no reason to rematch Loma unless the money is right. Because Loma wants a rematch and doesn't get it should it be considered a duck. Now, Lopez can return the favor and face him since Loma gave him a shot.
