Too many unanswered punches...the referee had no choice but to stop it before a big shot landed. Holyfield had 0 connects. Nobody wanted to see Holyfield get his lights turned off like Tito Ortiz did.

Sad to see a retired legend, 2 years shy of 60 yr old fighting when he should not be in the ring and then making excuses after the fight. This is pathetic and shameful.

Yes, Mills Lane had to step in and Bert's people weren't happy about the stoppage, but he wasn't fighting back. Awesome fight because, apart from being a slugfest, Bert knocked Holyfield down, totally shocking everyone.

Yeah man I remember ESPN Classic, before it became a premium channel, would always have random old fights on. I remember them playing a lot of Holyfield bouts. A lot of Holyfield and Tyson.

I think people think it was stopped early or stoppage wasn't even on agenda because of the punishment real deal could take only 22 years ago. I say only because 22 years goes in blink of eye. So having a tough chin is only a snapshot in time, like speed, power it goes.
Yes real deal wasn't firing back at that point but he hasn't been taking punches round after round like Bert Cooper was.
But I'm not arguing I just feel sorry for real deal but I'm glad he's protected. I don't want real deal to feel embarrassment and shame
