C'mon, man (Joe ***** voice)....you mean to tell me he had allllll this time to catch COVID and he just happens to catch it just two weeks shy of fight night?
I mean, he's been training, right? Isn't there spit flying all over the gym...especially when you're sparring? Again, he happened to catch it at the picture perfect time and I'm not convinced at this point.
Boy....these guys win belts and don't wanna defend them against other champions....they're happy as hell to jump in there against "TBD" opponents in showcase bouts, but they catch the cooties (COVID) or hurt their finger some ****** ****. Anything to get out of a meaningful fight and it's starting to become more prevalent.
The fans aren't going for it anymore.Comment

I'm not saying he should or shouldn't have gotten the shots, but, dang...protect yourself as much as possible while preparing to fight. It's like his team is inept or somethin. They really thought he was going to be able to train, socialize and live his life normally without catching the virus? Bunch of goof balls.Comment

Sure...its easier for me to type this from home. But if your bread is determined on you making it to fight night, and fighting is your professional JOB, 20 months into a pandemic you would think you would do EVERYTHING POSSIBLE to avoid a cancelled fight. Guys try to avoid injuries in camp, "try" to not get popped for banned substances, try to minimize distractions. You would think COVID would be something the camp/team would be vigilant about. If I was a promoter/manager, I would hire a COVID Captain, pay this man 2% of the purse, whose sole job is oversight and prevention of COVID threats. No joke. You need to go get groceries? Nah guy, I got you. Hey sparring guy? Where's your test in the last 72 hours, especially if you're going to breathing all on my fighter and all. COVID Captain does roadwork in the morning, and COVID CAPTAIN goes on the promo tour. COVID CAPTAIN has a fanny pack with hand wipes, hand sanitizer, and a can of Lysol in hand during all open gym hours. Laugh all you want, but that's why this year is worse for boxing than last year because COVID Captains aren't employed.
He and his ****** team just ruined the fight. Now, WTF is Fulton gonna do? I'm sure he's ready to fight right now....now he has to have two camps and that may or may not impact his performance.
Glaring incompetence on behalf of Team Figueroa. Hopefully we can get the fight by December if his team isn't still stuck on ******. Make it happen.Comment
