Comments Thread For: Plant On Negotiating With Canelo: He Found Out That I'm Not A Fighter You Can Just Push Around

This is PBC in a nutshell, even if you are the B side they are not willing to make the fight under the A side terms. This fight would have never happened if Canelo didn’t go over to their side. They are prepared for their own boxer to not get that opportunity, just because it has to be on their side. No other promotional outfit would make that stand, if they do then boxing fans would not see most fights that we are seeing now in cross promotions… Imagine wanting to fight Mayweather and you would only fight him if he comes over to your side…. wrong. Canelo never negotiated with Plant. As the lead promoter, PBC was the one doing all the negotiations. PBC negotiated with Canelo, and PBC negotiated with Plant. Canelo wasnt promoting the event, so he couldnt care less what Plant is making. And the stumbling block in the first deal was the replacement opponent issue between Canelo and PBC. It also had nothing to do with Plant.
So it makes me wonder what exactly Plant is talking about, because he never negotiated with Canelo in the first place......

I did mention that canelo tried to leverage pbc with his demands and it failed. His demand was getting 40 mil for a replacement opponent which was a ridiculous demand so it was in fact canelo who held up the fight. Otherwise, even though canelo was dealing with pbc, there are always things that a fighter has To agree to. So if plant is saying he didn’t cave, there were likely specific diva like demands that A sides try to pull that plant wouldn’t agree to. We’ve seen canelo implement multiple demands in the past like catch weights, rehydration clauses, size of ring etc. so who know what he may have tried to pull.
Plant is the fighter, not the promoter. The issue that killed the first date had nothing to do with him.

Are you also aware that despite plant agreeing to his part, negotiations were still dragged out before he agreed, you acting as if you know more than plant about what negotiations entailed is laughable. Just admit you’re wrong and move on.

Plant is spewing his BS as usual. He turned the fight down earlier in '20, trying to claim Feb-May was too short of a turnaround while crying to the media about how he was being set up. Meanwhile Canelo just fought 3 times in under 6 months including the exact turnaround Plant wined about. Later that year, Canelo got caught up in a legal dispute with DAZN/GB so he wasn't free to negotiate but made it clear all along he was targeting a Dec date. As soon as his situation was settled he sent out offers to the champs. Plant for his part said at the time he had been training and was ready for Dec but played dumb when Al didn't get it done, then turned around and tried to run with the short notice excuse again.
So Plant rejected the opportunity of a lifetime twice without any guarantee that chance would come again. The only reason it got done was Canelo who kept pushing for it and took the initiative of becoming a free agent so he could get past BS roadblocks from guys like Haymon unwilling to cross the street even for their B level guys. Most A side fighters would have told him to kick rocks and he'd go back to his comfort zone of fighting stiffs for peanuts with his protected 0.BodyBagz likes this.

These ****y eurobums are so annoying. The 168 division is extremely lame, I will be happy that canelo gets this fight out of the way. 175 are where the real challenges are. Plant is 31 and what are even his top 3 wins? his career is on the downhill slope and hes beat ***ing nobody but grubhub drivers.BodyBagz likes this.
