He retired semi-young. I mean he did not retire at the traditional age of like the 37-40 range which most athletes (except for Golfers and WWE wrestlers) retire in. 33 years old, that's more like the retirement age of brawlers who left a lot in the ring and had to retire because they were really done at that age. Boxers like Ward retire much later. Whitaker, Wlad, Vitali, JMM, Mayweather, Hopkins, come to mind. They retired at the ages of 37+ because they did not take a ton of damage for prolonged periods. That is what I thought was going to be the case for Ward as well. I felt he had at least like 3-4 more good fights in him before he became past prime. Maybe like 37 would have been a good age for him. Even Froch, who took some hard punches in his career, fought until 37 and Froch too looked like he had at least 2-3 good fights in him.
Andre Ward's career ended abruptly, it was anticlimactic. At this age, 37, he would be coming back at the age that he should have initially retired.Comment

I mean anything can happen in boxing but I'd be very surprised to see Ward come out of retirement. The guy is too proud and too much of a perfectionist to risk that undefeated record.Comment
