Does anyone remember an Usyk fight where we was forced to fight while clinching or anything where he had to resort to infighting? I'm hitting air right now trying to find a fight or clip.

Watch him at cruiser. He fights at all ranges. When he fought Mike Hunter there was in fighting as well.Comment

Briedis definitely swarmed him and there were a lot of very close range exchanges, but not much clinching. Usyk got the better of the aforementioned exchanges more often than not.Comment

Not many fights of him clinching because he is very hard to get into a clinch unless you hold and hit which is illegal, Chisora did it for the first 3 rounds and by round 4 Usyk was actually blocking groin shots the referee was blinded to and landed repeated low blows .
Usyk gets a lot of slack but he’s won pretty convincing so far at heavy ,that’s going to change though real fast when AJ is throwing back at him . Had he actually taking a Joshua fight Straight away he’d be in real trouble, the fights he fought so far should let him get out of or past the 4th round after that I expect AJ to stop him at any point . This is probably the most needed mismatch I need to see , for me it’s can Usyk really win rounds in a fight like this because that means he’s taking AJ shots along the way and how successful will he slip his head just enough to make AJ miss when he’s got 12 rounds to nail him ?
I think Usyk can make a decent account of himself but winning is really wishful thinking for anyone picking him . There’s no fight to suggest that .

Hahahah Yeah. Chisora man. He's a brawler through and through. I remember when he fought Vitali and Chisora had him backing up the whole fight. He was a juggernaut in that fight. Not many fights of him clinching because he is very hard to get into a clinch unless you hold and hit which is illegal, Chisora did it for the first 3 rounds and by round 4 Usyk was actually blocking groin shots the referee was blinded to and landed repeated low blows .
Yeah. It's hard for me to tell. I had to go back and look at their fights with a more critical eye.Usyk gets a lot of slack but he’s won pretty convincing so far at heavy ,that’s going to change though real fast when AJ is throwing back at him . I'm really on the fence. I was looking for him to be able to fight in a clinch or, even if not that, just leaning and throwing. I know it's illegal but it's still allowed for brief moments. And personally, I just think that he's going to have to bring it in close range to really hurt Joshua. I haven't seen Usyk really make a good account of himself fighting on the inside. Even these video recommendations didn't show Usyk truly roughing up his opponents on the inside. So I don't know. What I do know is that sitting on the outside for AJ's jab is suicide. If he can take that away, then he'll be able to actually win the fight, in my opinion. Joshua's boxing ability decreases significantly unless he's able to keep that long range to mid range distance. Get in close range, and Joshua has no answer. I'm going to do a lot of reviewing here to make a fight analysis video. I know what's needed to beat AJ, but I just don't know if Usyk has the skill set. Personally, I think Usyk has a really bad habit of staying too long on the line without doing anything to protect himself. That's perfect for AJ to punish him with that power jab he has. We'll see ....I think Usyk can make a decent account of himself but winning is really wishful thinking for anyone picking him . There’s no fight to suggest that .

Joshua can fight at all ranges is the difference. He’s actually more a back foot fighter these days so that’s a double edge sword for Usyk . AJ likes to counter as guys come forward and is getting really good at pull counter lead right hands he’s becoming a real nightmare in the ring . Usyk is a very smart calculator in the ring to he sees body and foot position and adjusts on the fly with subtle movements that make him a real headache to but he’s not the menace AJ is who really makes you lay when you miss .

I just don’t see how Usyk gets by this one . He relies on a steady rhythm of jumping in and out with no jab to work his way in ,it’s won’t work here the speed of AJ and distance he needs to reach is not enough doing that .
Vitali was also a very good back foot guy who made guys pay and punish them with those long awkwardly positioned angles I wouldn’t put to much into Chisora backing him up many guys did that trying to catch him while getting pummeled like Sanders and Vaughn Bean . Vitali barely lost rounds when he was active ,this is why a guy like Filip Hrgovic is going to cause severe problems for most he’s got the Vitali Klitschko blue print but with better balance and less injury prone at least so far .

With Usyk its actually very interesting. Watching him at Cruiser compared to Witherspoon and Chisora you see two different fighters. You can see that Usyk was trying to make certain changes and what resulted was he lost his anchor. You even saw it when he fought Bellew. In these fights Usyk moves in straight lines back... the same way Ali did when he was clipped by Frazier... His head is straight up, and he stays at a distance.
At Cruiser, Usyk did not move this way. He had head movement, moved off at angles, fought at all ranges, etc. BUT there was one problem: If you look at tapes of Usyk at Cruiser, he was a very physical fighter. He depended on controlling the opponent, fighting inside, body shots, and keeping on top of his opponent. Naturally one can see that Usyk figured that when he was coming up in weight, he had to stop using the physicality he had, because he would be smaller. Hence, the change.
Heres the interesting thing: I think Usyk realized he made a mistake assuming that he could fight in lines, be evasive, and pick his spots against fellow heavy weights. He was not happy after the Chisora fight. What did he do? He put on weight, and he got stronger. Usyk is making adjustments in his fight with AJ. I think he is making the proper adjustments. To what end? I think Usyk will pick and choose his spots, engage inside, and wait until the fight gets into the later rounds, where upon he will come on strong, and bully AJ. I actually think he is correct and will be successful. I was thinking AJ would win before then, but when I saw how Usyk learned and adjusted... I think he takes it!Comment
