Locche had better defence than all three.
Willie Pep better defense than Floyd or Pernell? Bull.

Muhammad Ali was likely inspired by Ralph Dupas and Willie Pastrano (or atleast learned more than a few tricks from them) who were with Angelo Dundee at the time, both noted defensive artists of the game. He also stated Sugar Ray Robinson as an idol of his.
Robinson on the other hand was inspired by late 1920's boxer Kid Chocolate. Who was the best boxer he ever saw in Ray Robinson's opinion? Willie Pep.Comment

To bad I dont know how to put up the youtube video. Anyone who believes this is true better be 70 yrs old. I pulled up some Pep clips and started laughing. Now that was real running when Saddle started whoopin that head. I think it is just trendy to put him in the same class with fighters today. Young guys trying to sound like savants and all well rounded and ****. HAHA. At best Pep gets pointed out by Donaire at FW. MAyweather.Pernel. Just stop it.Comment

Yeah your right there is a difference but the analogy is the same Pep was old school his style was from pre Ali , Robinson was the one that started the ball rolling into the modern fighter I think Pep was just before this in his style , I mean the tapes are there to see and I dont think its hard to see the difference in the modern fighters in terms of precision power and speed , everything moves forward over time .
Look at Barney Ross from the 1930's, would you say that he has no chance against any of today's lightweight contenders?
Watch from 3:00 onwards.
Now here's Kid Chocolate who fought way back in the late 1920's. Is his style really that primitive?
And here's footage from the very early part of the 1900's, nearly a hundred years ago:
4:20
Lastly some film from more than 100 years ago of the "Old Master" Joe Gans:

Judah is just more athletic so it looks like he is winning. But Judah backing up is not a sign that he giving it to Kostya. Kostya was just that good in timing him. And it was not just one good punch.Comment

Im refering to Robinson as in style or technique , he was ahead of his time , not the date they fought or when they were born but styles maybe I should have worded it different than I did although it clearly says " in his style " . . I believe Robinson is the most influential fighter in history so far he changed the art .
