Robinson on the other hand was inspired by late 1920's boxer Kid Chocolate. Who was the best boxer he ever saw in Ray Robinson's opinion? Willie Pep.
He also was inspired by Luis Rodriguez from what I've read, can you confirm this?

Young guys trying to sound like savants and all well rounded and ****. HAHA. At best Pep gets pointed out by Donaire at FW. MAyweather.Pernel. Just stop it.
Saddler was after he broke his back in a plane crash.

          Pep was younger than Robinson.

Look at Barney Ross from the 1930's, would you say that he has no chance against any of today's lightweight contenders?

          Watch from 3:00 onwards.

Now here's Kid Chocolate who fought way back in the late 1920's. Is his style really that primitive?

And here's footage from the very early part of the 1900's, nearly a hundred years ago:

          4:20

Lastly some film from more than 100 years ago of the "Old Master" Joe Gans:

Yeah I remember Judah giving it to his ass before he got caught with one good punch.

The level of ignorance is awesome on this forum sometimes. Pep and Robinson fought each other in the amateurs. They were from the exact same era, even fought some of the same guys in the pros.

Judah is just more athletic so it looks like he is winning. But Judah backing up is not a sign that he giving it to Kostya. Kostya was just that good in timing him. And it was not just one good punch.

Im refering to Robinson as in style or technique , he was ahead of his time , not the date they fought or when they were born but styles maybe I should have worded it different than I did although it clearly says " in his style " . . I believe Robinson is the most influential fighter in history so far he changed the art .

Robinson was an offensive machine, without a doubt, but do you really think his defense was better than Pep's?
