This is why I said "while in character." Obviously he doesn't present himself that way in his personal life. But within boxing, he is both an athlete and an entertainer. As an athlete, he utilizes an intelligent, defensive, counterpunching style. As an entertainer, he plays the role of a smug, arrogant heel. The people who dislike him play into this by rooting against him in fights. The people who do like him play into this as well, by constantly crying about how he is "hated." Keeping in context of the threadstarter's analysis, PBF is not shunned by fans due to his fighting style. It's because he wants to be shunned.
I figured out why americans arent behind Floyd, while watching Morales vs Pac I.

i think its definately possible to dislike a fighter because of their outside persona but if hes a good fighter you've still got to respect him.
Like Floyd, whether or not the whole money may bs is all an act you have got to appreciate his skills in the ringComment

I dont have a problem with Floyds style, I admire his skills, especially his defense.
But what I do have a problem with and what annoys me is his endless amount of **** talking, talking about how he's going to be the aggressor and will go for the KO, but once he steps in the ring, he's playing safe defense the entire fight.
He came in in a ****in gladiator uniform with 6 gay models carrying him, against boldamir, trying to hype the crowd, and he's supposed to destroy in the ring right?
instead, he was constantly walking away from bolddamir in the last 30 seconds of the fight back to the middle of the ring. Tiger woods and other celebrities were extremely bored and walked out early. Merchant pointed it out and Floyd was infamously upset and cried like a girl.
Also in 24/7, Floyd hyped it up that he was out for blood against ODLH. But what happend? more walking back to the middle of the ring. Not a scratch on ODLH. I dont mind if it's his style, but he shouldnt claim to be something that he's not. The aggressor.Comment
