Al and FOX don’t have the funds to guarantee Canelo more money than DAZN can offer him. So it’s logical to suggest that Canelo decided to bet on his star power and explore the PPV option with a gamble since the DAZN would be a fixed offer. Moreso, that’s also the easiest way for him to get the fight since Plant and his team were playing hardball.

That’s the only logical conclusion - not what you’re insinuating. The gamble is on projected PPV numbers, not guarantee.
Canelo is getting his guarantee whether the PPV does well our bombs. He gets upside if it hits a certain amount as well as getting upside on the gate.

Could DAZN have offered more? Maybe, but they did not and a few fights through Canelo’s original agreement, they did not want to pay his guarantee for opponents like Smith and BJS.

But the guarantee he’s getting would be meagre compared to the lousy number someone posted on the thread earlier. Since he has no deal with FOX - his guarantee won’t be more than the $5m he was guaranteed against GGG.

Both fights happened at the height of the pandemic and both fights didn’t do well since they’re both unknown in the US. So it’s understandable why he would prefer to take a gamble this time around. But suggesting that FOX and PBC offered him more is disingenuous. They haven’t offered PBC fighters what they’re entitled to and have been faking injuries to postpone fights - why would they offer a non-PBC fighter a huge guarantee they would take enormous loss on? Intelligent people don’t run a business like that.

Yes, they spoke about projected earnings and Canelo felt comfortable taking the gamble since it also boosted his chances of getting the fight to be undisputed. That’s it.
