Sorry but "willing to prove . . ' isn't proving and counts for nothing.
Yes, but who was willing to prove they'd win rematch or triology. It's Floyd who wants to leave asterix.
So Floyd fans wanting his one controversial win to count for more than.it does leaves bad taste in mouth because if you applied same logic to 100 + years of boxing it don't work.
Pac in t riologies has 100% success rate
It doesn't count for "more than it does", it counts for what it was. A win, proven in the ring.
Results in the ring are what counts, and Mayweather s win over Pacquiao was not controversial, it was a clear cut unanimous decision.
I think that, upon reflection, it's clear that Floyd was further removed from his peak at the time of their fight than was Pacquiao.

If any of you sat down and did your homework to make a list, there is no way you can put Mayweather near the top 10. Pacquiao is top 10 no two ways about it.Comment

Sadly, Floyd won't get his just due until he's dead and gone.
Manny is a warrior. No two ways about it, but the ease with which Floyd beat the vast majority of his opponents should never be overlooked. The pure skill and ring IQ that he displayed consistently has never been seen in a boxing ring.Comment

I think you underestimate how bad it reflects upon Floyd to not want to prove his 1st win wasn't a fluke. It was a controversial win there are a lot of talking points other than the unsatisfactory performance by Floyd and if you won't admit that you are being disengenuos.

Floyd wasn't further from his peak he was just found out he wasn't as good as people thought he was. You saying he was further from peak is just you admitting Floyd didn't look good in his win. Floyd being far from his peak is just like Broner was far from peak when PAC beat him. PAC makes you look far from your peakComment

Pretty much but from reading that thread, seems like 90% of boxingscene is a bunch of ret@rded groupies. They cant give props to the "rival" of their man crush. It's so pathetic. You see the same name in every Manny or Floyd thread bashing one or the other resume. 99% of active boxers and past boxers have them both as ATG. Who is higher or lower is a matter of opinion. Floyd is the better boxer but Manny bring something else in the ring. It's up to preference but hey... can't resonate groupiesSadly, Floyd won't get his just due until he's dead and gone.

Imagine going to war with China back in the 1950’s and going to war with China now. Not the same. Canelo who fought floyd then and canelo now are two very different versions.
While Floyd has exceptional defensive skills and very accurate timing, his ability to pick and choose his opponent and knit pick every detail of the fight sets him back behind Pac in the ATG list. Floyd never challenged himself…he set his sights on the money. While it was a very lucrative choice, walking down the $$ path is all together a different road than a fighter chasing legacy. Pac knows what it takes, Ali knew what it took, Sugar Ray Robinson knew what it took(these 3 fighters define boxing for their generation).Comment

True it's silly to use Floyd as figure to represent boxing and use Floyd's career as yardstick. If boxers do what Floyd did, boxing's future is in doubt. Fans don't get fights they want and fans lose out. Floyd frustrated the heck out of boxing world and even his fans were sick of his antics.

Too much about unbeaten record, h2h wins with no rematches, home advantage, no risks. Do people really want that to define future of boxing?
Do we want future boxing superstars to follow Floyd s route to greatness or pacs?Last edited by hugh grant; 08-21-2021, 12:48 PM.Comment

Seriously?!

Please don't try to twist my words; my saying that Floyd was further from his peak is exactly what I mean and believe.
Trying to say Mayweather s win was controversial is just YOU being disingenuous. It was clear cut, unanimous points win.
That Pacquiao fans won't accept that, or want to argue about it, doesn't change the verdict or what goes in the records.
Get over it, move on. Nothing more to see here.Comment
He couldn’t pull it off because he’s not as popular as Floyd. Instead he’s being sued for stealing McGregor manager money. Smh.
