yeah arum already explained what happened (link is below). The money was never put up despite both guys agreeing. As I originally said, Pac wanted way more than he was worth and nobody wanted to take that kind of loss. Pac knew what he was doing. Why ask for 40 mil for Crawford but take 5 for Spence? You’re agreeing with me BUT then you expound on almost a defensive response. But let’s break down what you wrote;
1. All those guys you listed are ATG but more important, the competition they faced were killers. Brandon Rios, Algieri, Mathysse, Broner, Clottey, Vargas will never see the HoF let alone be considered ATGs. Ali fought great guys so did Leonard so did Lewis so did Hearns. Leonard’s rank in history is intact despite his loss.
2. How exactly has Rios redeemed himself after losing to Alvarado? He then lost to Manny and later got KO’d by Swift Garcia. How did Margarito redeem himself after getting KO’d by Mosley? He went to get beat by Manny. I could on and on.
3. “Mutually agreed” to catchweight? Roach is on record demanding catchweights. Whether they agreed to it or not, the point is Manny’s team chose to weaken those guys. If he was so good and so sure of his skills, why demand catchweights?
4. Your last response about those fights being “good money-wise” is just silly. Manny could have fought my next door neighbor and would have made the same amount of money. He also could have faced the top WWs and Junior WWs of that time and made the same amount of money BUT he chose not to. He chose to fight irrelevant guys with zero threat abilities. Read that … “Manny decided”. It’s clear as daylight. Rios got the biggest paycheck of his career and had no idea he would ever fight Manny until he was cherry picked.
Manny could have fought Alvarado who had just beaten Rios. It would have been a slightly better opponent.
None of the other opponents deserved a shot at Manny nor did they even go looking for it. Manny carefully selected them.
There were much better fighters that Manny could have faced but he CHOSE not to. It’s that simple
