Especially when his guarantee to face Spence was only going to be 5 mil.
Except he signed to fight Crawford
Ask Crawford and arum what happened there
He fought spence because the Crawford fight didn't get made

1. All those guys you listed are ATG but more important, the competition they faced were killers. Brandon Rios, Algieri, Mathysse, Broner, Clottey, Vargas will never see the HoF let alone be considered ATGs. Ali fought great guys so did Leonard so did Lewis so did Hearns. Leonard’s rank in history is intact despite his loss.
2. How exactly has Rios redeemed himself after losing to Alvarado? He then lost to Manny and later got KO’d by Swift Garcia. How did Margarito redeem himself after getting KO’d by Mosley? He went to get beat by Manny. I could on and on.
3. “Mutually agreed” to catchweight? Roach is on record demanding catchweights. Whether they agreed to it or not, the point is Manny’s team chose to weaken those guys. If he was so good and so sure of his skills, why demand catchweights?
4. Your last response about those fights being “good money-wise” is just silly. Manny could have fought my next door neighbor and would have made the same amount of money. He also could have faced the top WWs and Junior WWs of that time and made the same amount of money BUT he chose not to. He chose to fight irrelevant guys with zero threat abilities. Guys that had zero shot at beating him. That is the very definition of cherry-picking
,emotionally and mentally, and he’s never been the same after that just like the other guys you mentioned. Just like I told you, when you’re fighting under Arum, he decides who you fight and if you go against him, he will set you up like he did with Pac vs Bradley 1 and Pac vs Horn, I’m pretty sure you know exactly what I was talking about. There is nothing silly about me saying fighting Rios etc was good “money wise”, his total earnings was more or less than $30 million each fight but when it comes to fighting Crawford, Arum won’t even pay him $20 million guaranteed earning to make it happen so, what choice did he have? As far as catch weight is concerned, that’s the only way you could make a fair fight between a small fighter and a big fighter, take it or leave it. Fighting bigger fighters without catch weight is not fair just like Rigo vs Loma or Mikey Garcia vs Spence. At the end of the day, if you don’t want catch weight, then don’t agree to it, if you mutually agreed to it, you should take it like a man win or lose.Last edited by Bluebird; 08-20-2021, 06:39 AM.

I will always have respect for Manny, he has always taken on everyone, I will give him mad props for wanting to fight Spence, Spence looked good against Garcia.

It’s just staggering to hear you find every excuse you can. This forum is mostly about Manny. Nobody gives two cents about Rios.
Rios fighting Manny was NEVER about him redeeming himself. He NEVER called out Manny to challenge himself or redeem himself. Manny’s team carefully picked him
“Nearly five months after being knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez, Manny Pacquiao has decided on his next opponent: former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios.”
https://syndication.bleacherreport.c...ember.amp.html
Read that … “Manny decided”. It’s clear as daylight. Rios got the biggest paycheck of his career and had no idea he would ever fight Manny until he was cherry picked.
Manny could have fought Alvarado who had just beaten Rios. It would have been a slightly better opponent.
None of the other opponents deserved a shot at Manny nor did they even go looking for it. Manny carefully selected them.
There were much better fighters that Manny could have faced but he CHOSE not to. It’s that simple

Every time somebody says something good about Pac, you would always mention him fighting Rios, Algieri etc. Arum gives Pac names of possible opponents and he has to choose between them, no more, no less. If Pac didn’t leave Top Rank, he wouldn’t be able to fight Thurman or Spence if he only didn’t get injured.
And yet you fanboys claim Floyd ducked him from 2009 to 2014 while he was with Top Rank. Clearly Arum didn’t want Floyd that’s why he came up with the most famous excuse … there’s no time to build a bigger venue for that fight.
And I mention those BUms to remind you guys that Manny fought a bunch of bums for almost a decade. You all seem to forget
