Once Usyk gets ****** in the face by the first right hand his chess mentality will be knocked out of his head and all he will remember is how to play dominoesDavid Haye was a spectacular fighter and a great Cruiserweight Unified Champion. But as an analyst and predictor of fight outcomes all serious observers know he has been much less impressive. For example his predicting Wilder would beat Fury. The problem with Haye's analyses is they are too simplistic, meaning they take into account too few factors to get the predictions right. As usual his analysis of Usyk versus A.J. is correct as far as it goes - lacking the power of the huge men, it will be hard for the smaller Usyk to keep the larger, stronger man at distance says Haye, so he predicts A.J. will win. But he fails to take into account that Usyk has been playing a strategic psychological game with A.J. which includes not showing all his strength and all his repertoire in the fights leading up to his clash with the Heavyweight Champion. Usyk knows A.J. is studying these fights to develop his game plan for fighting him, and he has been deliberately hiding some of his repertoire to mislead the Champion. People like Haye who don't have Usyk's chess playing mentality, don't strategise long term to the same degree Usyk does won't recognise that Usyk is fighting in such a way as to mislead A.J. The result will be the Usyk who shows up for the A.J. showdown will not be the one A.J. is expecting - that is a key part of the Usyk strategy that Haye has not recognised and so has not taken into account in his analysis that guides his prediction. Whether Usyk can defeat the Champion remains to be seen. But he will have created an element of surprise that gives an advantage which often leads to victory in war. The Usyk fight with A.J. will be a war - a mental and physical war between two boxers - and it will be very interesting to see if A.J. can adjust to the surprises which are coming his way, or whether Usyk will use them to such advantage that A.J. will be thrown off balance and lose. I can hardly wait for the bell which will start this Boxing Chess Game. I think it will be a great fight.Comment

The problem is there just isn't anything to suggest Joshua has the kind of other worldly power to take Usyk out of his comfort zone. I feel his early rounds would be Joshua's best bet and I wouldn't even be surprised to see Joshua score a knockdown. However if Usyk is able to weather the storm then it will be trouble as Joshua really loses momentum in the later rounds and needs a round or two to recover into the 8th-9th. And Usyk is a slow starter. People are reading a lot into the Chisora fight, which is fair, but Chisora is a pressure fighter who constantly comes forward throwing huge bombs. Its a surprisingly difficult style to nullify unless you're physically imposing, can stifle the forward movement with a jab and can move laterally. Either that or just smother Chisora in the clinch. Usyk went for the second option. And whilst his performance didn't set the world on fire, it gave me a clue that the dude likely has an impressive gastank and movement. This for me is Joshua's number one concern as I can see Usyk opting for an early negative fight and banking on Joshua tiring. The only potential miscalculation for Usyk being the amount of mass he's put on in a relatively short space of time.
I like Haye but his predictions are often terrible. They're way too simplistic. I like Wilder but Haye firmly believed Wilder was the favourite in the second fight which I found the laughable. The only thing which I didn't expect was Fury steamrolling him, but I genuinely didn't think Wilder stood any good chance outside of the fact that Fury seemed a little distracted in the build up.Last edited by KingGilgamesh; 08-19-2021, 05:52 AM.Comment

Everybody over simplyfying the fight, saying it´s a small feather fisted man vs a big stiff robot. AJ will have 3 inches and 15-20 lbs on Usyk, in HW terms not much. AJ is also a much better boxer with good hand speed than he gets credit for - but Usyk has stopped some tough CWs and he seems to have a sturdy chin. AJs right cross and uppercuts will be a constant danger but I´m not putting any money on the fight, especially with Papachenko in Usyk´s corner. What ever the result is I´ll be surprised.

Usyk is a good fighter, but unlike David Haye or Evander Holyfield 'He has no great stand out attributes'
If you are a fighter coming up in weight, you need to be great in at-least one department 'David Haye had super elite speed, athleticism, and punching power'. Evander Holyfield had 'Abnormal levels of endurance, durability and physical strength. He was also the complete fighter in boxing terms, there was no technical aspect of the game where he lacked'.
Usyk is just a solid fighter all around 'He has no great attributes'.
But even even still? Usyk may make this fight competitive. All he has ever done, throughout is entire career is win. Joshua is still recovering from his loss to Andy Ruiz Junior, he has still not entirely slayed the dragon of that night 'But he is improving, with a rematch win and a knock out vs Pulev'.
Note: Joshua recovery is not just about inside the ring, his competitors sense the change in him outside the ring 'That is the reason why Pulev was trying to put it on him and push him about'
