This is what's wrong with boxing IMO Why does Ortiz have to fight Boots when he should already be guaranteed a title shot? He fought his way up the WBA rankings and was #2 ranked for WBA's 147 2 years ago. He then won their Gold belt which is supposed to guarantee you a mandatory title shot. It's been 2 years since then he literally can't move any higher up the WBA's rankings but we see how corrupt the WBA is and they refused to give him a title shot. So he went over to the WBO moved up their rankings and was #2 ranked by the WBO before fighting for their International belt which is supposed to guarantee you a title shot. He beat Hooker won that belt and moved up to #1 in WBO ranking. Instead of just sitting on that #1 ranking he just took on a dangerous top 147 that only Crawford has beaten. He can't move any higher in the rankings for the WBA and now the WBO so why does he have to jump more hoops and fight more top contenders to get his title shot? Meanwhile other fighters because of politics are getting manufactured vacant belts and title shots without having to fight top guys. We see fighters that already got a title shot and lost yet keep getting recycled title shots without having to fight top guys. If boxing was run like it is supposed to Vergil and Boots would both be getting title shots. They are both better then guys champions are fighting. If these champions don't want to fight them they should give up the belts. Instead the champions keep taking lesser fights and demanding all the young top guns keep fighting endless contenders instead of giving them their shot.
