I'm someone who admires the 'pure' in boxing. Mayweather (whom I very much dislike as a person) was a wonderfully effective boxer, who did enough hitting to accompany the not getting hit. Rigondeaux's style makes me think that he seems to have misconstrued boxing as 'the art of hitting OR not getting hit'.

Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux: I Have These God-Given Skills, This is The Way I Display Them

"Nobody wants to fight with me because I frustrate them in the ring,” said Rigondeaux. “I landed the punches that I needed to in order to win the fight tonight. This is how I win. I have these God-given skills and this is the way I display them. I'm a unique fighter. It's my style and it's the only one I know. You can see I'm still better than anyone else in the lighter weight classes and I'm going to keep fighting."
Sorry Master Rigo, but we saw you fight a different style! That's what we wanted to see!
Rigondeaux Makes it a 'Fight' - Stops Ceja in WBC Eliminator
“People were saying that I get on the bicycle and run a lot,” Rigondeaux said, according to his translator. “Well, that’s not true, so I wanted to show them I could fight in short distance and I wanted to get a couple rounds in. Then that left hand came and ended the fight...”
Ceja and Rigondeaux traded vicious body shots for most of the eighth round. With 56 seconds to go in that round, however, Mora deducted a point apiece from Rigondeaux and Ceja. Mora had warned each fighter numerous times prior to deducting points. Toward the end of that eighth round, Rigondeaux blasted Ceja with the left hand that ultimately ended their fight.

The general public does not understand the psychological facet of boxing, that Guillermo Rigondeaux has mastered : mental fatigue and complete discouragement, is a effective strategy for both survival and offensive purposes. I had a good laugh at the fans, I expected this outcome : here is my breakdown before the fight, enjoy.

wasted talent.... at one point in your career, you gotta step back and think if you are doing it right....
i get it with rigo, he's gonna fight the way he fights and will not let anyone dictate that, not the media, not the fans, etc.... BUT, there's gotta be a time, where you ask yoself, "do i keep doing this"? or switch it up???
floyd gets hated on, BUT floyd goes out and prove the haters wrong... this is why you cant really knock on floyd... BUT rigo.... he;s not doing anything! lol...

I'm always been a Rigo's defendor, but not this time. Was too much. I expected a little more, like when Donaire. I think he is now in a good time to retire. He has been a legend, and should not have a need to show this poor performance at the end of his carrer. He has to retire with dignity

I only saw highlights. All I saw was Casimero was wild and aggressive but missing a lot and very frustrated, to the point of resorting to throwing at least 3 or 4 punches while Rigo was already down on one knee. On Rigo's end, I saw him landing some decent counters but not really hurting Casimero. I saw his feet were very fast, not fast for a 40 year old, but fast for any boxer young or old. I saw reflexes and great head and body movements. I need to watch this whole fight

if that is the epitome of boxing skill then it is no wonder that boxing fans are dwindling by the day.
It is clear in that picture that Rigo is setting up Casimeiro with a nasty 5-punch combo.
Watch it in 4k Blu Ray with 3D glasses, slow motion, commentary off. You will then see Rigondeaux land a 10 punch combination while not even close to getting touched.
Only real boxing fans can see this in real time with our trained eyes. But if you are not a real fan, you need special accommodations to see what I can see.
