A lot of people say boxing is hit without getting hit and it is true. I am as big an advocate as the next man about defense in boxing.

But boxing is also a combat sport. This involves fighting and reasonably entertaining the observers. Entertainment can be different depending on which fan you ask. This is why I say “reasonably”. What is entertaining to a reasonable viewer and not one with skewed views about certain styles.

Combat sports also involves impressing the judges and press, as well as the network you are on. When a fighter does all of this, he opens up opportunities for himself as a prizefighter. Networks show preference to fighters who can catch fans attention somehow. You make more money like this. More fans want to pay to watch you. Networks want you. Promoters find it easy to advertise you, therefore they try their best to keep you in the limelight.

Rigondeaux is highly respected, he’s clearly a very talented boxer. But when hitting without getting hit means that you are landing 3 punches per round because you do not want to give your opponent that chance to catch you, you remove the “entertainment” factor of the sport.

      W. Klitschko
      Mayweather
      Ward
      Lomachenko
      Hopkins
      Usyk
      Canelo
      V. Klitschko

I feel like these recent fighters are/were reasonably entertaining while still being defensive in a responsible and reasonable way, as well reasonably offensive. I think they showed a good blend of offense and defense. Even Devin Haney, who’s so far been awful to watch. Rigondeaux makes Haney look like Arturo Gatti.

Rigondeaux was an amazing amateur boxer, I think he should go back to the amateurs and fight 4 rounders while just focusing on scoring 2-3 punches per round and avoiding points being scored on him. He will be away from TV and still doing what he loves. He can go build up his 195-5 record there and become a legend. Maybe try to get to 500 amateur fights? And also fight in the next Olympics. Try to win Gold a third time and a 4th time and 5th.

When you are in a fight that makes history due to its lack of action, with you being the main culprit, even as a supporter you have to start saying enough is enough.

Ward was entertaining? You should’ve added the fat gypo, Fury, to the list. He has involved been involved in loads of boring fights and arguably the most boring fight ever.

This loss is a blessing is a blessing in disguise there is no way in hell Rigo beats Inoue. And casimero can’t either.

Like I said, reasonably entertaining. Ward throws and lands jabs, right hands, hooks, combination of all punches. He also outboxes his opponents.

If we are being reasonable, we can’t compare Wlad, Mayweather, Ward to Rigondeaux. The activity among those 3 vs Rigondeaux is like night and day. It’s actually not even close.

Probably should have declared it a draw since the whole thing was so bad no one deserved to win but then they probably thought about a rematch happening so flipped a coin on the winner

And that means that Rigo beats Inoue? You're joking right? Rigo gets hit way too much today and it only takes one from Inoue to turn the fight around. if Inoue gets him hurt, and he would, it's over

A 40 yr old bantamweight is quite a big thing, it's very hard to be old with the super little guys because of the speed and intensity in those classes.

Rigo can steal lots of fights with his ability but Im glad he wasn't rewarded for that with a win, he had no offense at all in that fight, made Floyd look like a destroyer
