Sorry if this got said already last week, but I just read a quote from Corley in Boxing News. He said he wasn't even hit the last time he went down, he was just in trouble so he took the knee on purpose for a breather.

We don't need those kind of fighters. I'm all for clever boxing, but if you're a warrior show a warrior's heart.

eeeeeh, that depends on how you view it, more as a fight or more as a sport. I agree that the most noble thing to do would be to stay up, like in the olden days. Still, if a guy thinks he's in trouble, and as an experienced boxer, feels that taking a knee will allow him to regain his equilibrium and thus give him a chance at winning the fight with the remaining time, then who knows......

I think its a shame that the ref stopped the fight. There was no 3 knock down rule, and the ref did not even give corley a count. But whats worse about it all, is that some people will think the only reason the fight was stopped was because the fight was in puerto rico and that the ref was biased. I guess a win is a win, but this one is slightly tainted.

Anorak, in the short time I've been here I've come to realise your'e raison d'etre, you ask questions or make comments to stimulate discussion. That's a good thing, because if people like you didn't start these threads then they would all revolve around "isn't ****** great" etc. A lot of your topics or statements are initially contentious, and that's what spikes peoples interests to read them. he gets up because he doesn't wanna be counted out, but then takes a knee a few seconds later WITHOUT BEING HIT?

i understand taking a knee to get outta trouble and what not...but what trouble? HE WASNT HIT AS HE SAID! what he WAS trying to do was cheat and get up from his previous asswhooping at the last second, then go down again to take another count...the ref isnt ******...

If a fighter is knocked down and then gets up and falls again with out another blow being landed then the referee will pick up the count from where he left off. Meaning that the ref probably picked up the count from the 8 count before. Leaving only 9 and 10 to be counted and then he's considered knocked out...Rockin'

That is the rule by the A.B.C standards....Rockin'
