It's about damn time that someone in a position of authority in boxing took a stand against the WBA. They've just been running rampant with their sanctioning fee scam and corruption.
Hopefully the WBO takes notice too. They aren't fooling anyone with how they cater to Bob Arum and Frank Warren.
And the WBC should get a talking to as well from the Association of Boxing Commissions. Franchise Champions are bullsh/t.
Every governing body is guilty of suspect actions that are detrimental to the integrity of the sport and the fans who support boxing but the WBA is definitely the most corrupt organization. Forget about waiting for the WBA to take legitimate action to dissolve their numerous titles in each weight class. It won't happen. The WBA should just be abolished or relegated to a secondary title status like the IBO and other lesser sanctioning bodies. Any title bestowed upon a boxer by the WBA should be considered no more than an international title. The WBA has no integrity and no conscience as an organization. They should be thrown in the dump with the rest of the trash.
The WBA has been ejaculating semen onto the faces of boxing fans for 20 years now.
The best part was about 3-4 years ago when Mendoza first announced the decision to reduce the amount of titlists per weight class. The result? They added the Gold belt and guaranteed an interim titlist in every weight class instead.
Reading that Maestre's corner is employed by the WBA is both abhorrent and criminal, but sadly not surprising at all. This is boxing corruption at its finest. Sure it's just a WBA interim belt, but these are just the roots to how ****** and diseased this sport is. Where everything is about money, greed, and backroom deals. Boxing forgot about "sport" a long time ago. Some might say this is always what boxing has been. All the way back to the very beginning.
The WBA is a cancer and a scourge. May God judge them accordingly.
One title per division per sanctioning body. I like having undisputed champions with 4 belts. no more than 4. It also means more to beat another champion than it does to beat a mandatory challenger.
Yep, when I said one belt per division, I meant the whole 4 belts thing.
While it sounded good, to get fans to forgive and forget like any marriage. There should have been a time
frame to complete the points in question or the problems will continue to repeat themselves.
Without this past week event, Would ABC not have addressed the other known issues?
