And no lesser way to evaluate someone being an Olympic champion even though the dominant era fighters almost always were olympians ?

Nobody is talking about Otrtiz now... He was an outstanding amatuer fighter, he fought the mean at competition and did not lose until he fought Wilder who is one of the top heavyweights All facts. I won't judge Ortiz, orany fighter until I see them... He may well be shot now who knows? Lets see how he does if he fights again. He has skills and was only beat by Wilder. Fact.
To say he fought inferior competition is silly. He beat who he fought, and there were no outstanding fighters... guys like Chisora Povatkin are decent and have skills, but not outstanding.

Ortiz was an outstanding amatuer fighter... Fact. Most Cuban fighters who come into professional prize fighting are well trained because they have a tremendous boxing program. Now I don't mind a disagreement with another poster about levels of opponent fought, don't really care about your opinion... thats cool. Just don't feel there were that much to distinguish better and worse in such a weak division. And thats really the substance of the issue... And you can try and spin it and spin it...
Yeah his amatuer backround is relevant... Yes by all means look at Ortiz's record... look at who beat him... One guy twice. Then look at fighters in the division and make up your own mind: Is their anything so outstanding about Chisora & Whyte? (fond of both), Povatkin, etc, compared to who Ortiz beat? Its a matter of opinion really, but this idiot is desperate to try to create any means to restore credability considering he has been wrong about virtually every prediction he has ever made.
