Comments Thread For: Maestre-Fox: WBA To investigate Scoring, Suggests Potential Rematch To Be Ordered

The worst in-ring decision of the year--and perhaps of recent memory--is officially under review. An investigation into the scoring of the August 7 welterweight fight between Venezuela's Gabriel Maestre (4-0, 3KOs) and Maryland's Mykal Fox (22-3, 5KOs) has been ordered by the World Boxing Association (WBA), whose title was at stake for the contest. Maestre was awarded the win by unanimous decision, in a fight nearly everyone who watched live believed that Fox only deserved to win, but in dominant fashion.

When has post fight reviews ever overturned a result? Can't think of a single one, usually they do a review then order a rematch and wash their hands.

You ever see the meme of two cartoon Spider-Man’s pointing at each other? That’s the equivalent of the WBA investigating corruption in a wba fight. They’re investigating themselves because they’re the ones who did it.

Frankly, the “ investigation “ from the WBA should take all of 1hour.

Start “ investigation” at 10:45 AM, Watch the fight. Watch the scores being announced. Round up the judges. Provide cigarettes and a blindfold. Pull trigger. Announce Fox as winner. Order a rematch.

Should be at lunch by 12:00PM.

There needs to be a single governing body to oversee the integrity of the sport. Like an internal affairs that large police departments have. Like the Postal Inspector for Postal Service related crimes.

            Boxing Police.

There needs to be an organization funded by someone to clean up the sport.

Teddy Atlas should do something like this. He seems the most passionate of anyone to actually clean up and do something.

So the crooks are going to investigate the crooks. I'm sure the WBA is going to come back and say that Fox won, so we are going to create another " regular" title for Fox....

I'm sure this will go well like when the police investigate themselves...

Somehow the WBA found a way to turn this robbery into another sanctioning fee for themselves. This organization has no shame.

"Without the bogus interim title at stake, Maestre-Fox would have also come with local officials assigned. Because of PBC’s obsession with participation trophy culture and its cozy relationship with the WBA, the assigned officials were plucked from a list of WBA-licensed judges."

Yo props to jake for staying like it is
