I actually think it would be a pretty close fight. I think it would depend on who could force the other into initiating the action as both are far more natural counter punchers especially at 147. I’d pick Mayweather by decision but I don’t think it’s a 12-0 type fight. More of an 8-4 type. We’ll obviously never know how it actually would have played out though.
Is Floyd About Level In Skill w/ SRR/SRL/Duran/Benitez

I think he could beat him easily on the front foot, flat footed, standing right in front of him. Benitez brings nothing to the table that would trouble Floyd, it’s a perfect style match up for him and Benitez does nothing better than Floyd. IMO.
Definitely would never consider Robinson or Leonard A level defensive fighters. Never saw Robinson in his prime so talking a past prime Robinson so maybe that’s unfair to say. But from what I’ve seen of both, saw Leonard live, definitely not A level defensive fighters.
Like you say though, opinions. It’s certainly debatable.

Floyd has made a lot of money boxing, but nobody he beat suggests to me that he could really hang with even a low man on the totem pole like Benitez.
The best ww in their prime Floyd beat was Ricky Hatton. I will let that sink in for a minute.
If that was the case, right now he would be top 10 atg, but we know he barely cracks top 30Comment

Make no doubt about it, Floyd Mayweather was supremely skilled.
But? For me, he was not a natural or fluid combination puncher 'And he did struggle to put punches together at times'.
Mayweather seemed to always have to set or reset himself, and you can see when this happens.
With somebody like Roy Jones Junior, it would not be apparent where the set or reset moment was 'It just seemed like a continuous freestyle'.
Note: Emmanuel Steward has also, stated similar things to what I have just put here.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 08-06-2021, 06:57 PM.Comment
