It didn't hurt his legacy because he didn't do it habitually. This is a recurring theme with Canelo.

Canelo being diva again. Pacquiao - Spence was announced like 2 months ago. We still don`t know who Canelo fights in september and if he even fights.

And Bivol is the B-side so if fighting at a catchweight is what is required then do it, I didn't complain when Canelo had to fight TBE at a catchweight, nor did i when Dawson had to fight Ward at 168. When you go around saying i can "Make this weight or that weight" then you hamper yourself at the negotiation table from the get-go.
Mayweather fought Berto was announced 39 days before the fight. How come OP’s don’t acknowledge that? Lol. Bivol is bigger, superior and never been stopped like Berto at the time. It’s not addressed.

Seriously? Because the Berto fight was a joke no matter how many days Berto was going to prep for it. Also, Berto was fighting at 147, that was never in question.

Bivol still doesn’t know what weight he’s going to be asked to drop to. When he said he could fight at 168, he didn’t mean he could do it that very day. Everyone knew he meant with enough time to get down to that weight. Whether or not he could really do it, even with enough time, is another matter.

You’re confused with draining. Bivol is always in shape. Now if you mean Bivol needs proper sparring partners to help fight a little guy then that’s a different story.

Bivol trains to be ready to get ready to weigh in at 175. That’s how that works in the modern era.

Yes. Bivol competes at 175 like his counterparts, but he isn’t as big as Yarde or Joe Smith Jr who too have to limit themselves to 175 on the scale. We don’t know what Bivol is doing for his scale, but fighters like Marquez or PAC have shown to weigh in significantly lighter than the limit in fights. In other words, one would think that they would take advantage of a limit, but they don’t. Same applies to Bivol if he says he can make 168. You guys said the same dumb thing about GGG. “Oh he’s a small Middleweight, and even doe he said 154 is easy, ‘why’ does he have to fight 154. He’s at 160.” See the pattern in dumbness? Lil G fans never cried about GGG’s statements for 154 and justified his actions for 160. You guys are hi******* dumbness and not applying it to Bivol. . It could be that Bivol is about 177lbs on fight or already filled? If that’s the case, he’s not even really cutting water weight which is the reason why Bivol is willing to do like the rest for 168, or better, a catchweight.

this basic understanding of scales is “how it works in the modern era.” But let’s move goalposts now and say “but but short notice, Bivol isn’t Floyd or Canelo to perform last minute, they are too elite.”
