Comments Thread For: Hearn: Canelo-Golovkin III Not Possible For September 18; GGG Focused On Murata Fight

Eddie Hearn doesn't consider Gennadiy Golovkin a potential opponent for Canelo Alvarez's next fight. While negotiations for the fight Alvarez really wants with Caleb Plant have stalled, Hearn believes Golovkin is fully focused on boxing Ryota Murata in December. Published reports last month indicated Golovkin would've been willing to square off against Alvarez a third time September 18 if that opportunity presented itself, but Hearn noted during a recent appearance on "The SI Boxing Podcast" that Dmitry Bivol is the frontrunner to replace Plant as Alvarez's opponent.

"I think, you know, the ultimate – the next decision is do we fight September 18th? Or do we just relax and sort of take on the chin that we’ll just fight one more time this year and see if the Plant fight changes direction?”

This is how I see it playing out. I truly believe Canelo wants the undisputed fight more than anything

Alvared has ****ed it up. inside source says that Haymon wanted to put a option in the contract that Charlo gets the next shot at the WBC 168 should clenelo win. Alvared balked.

Based off his last performance in the ring, Canelo eats Charlo’s lunch

Huh, kind of a shame because it almost seems to me like this rivalry needs a third, conclusive fight. I was starting to think it was going to be Bivol, but based on the quote from Eddie, it does sound like they are going to try and still do the Plant fight later in the year.

Boxing never plays out like we want it to, on the time schedule we're initially told to expect lol. Never.

Alvarez is not interested in a multi-fight contract. Haymon offered in effect a 4 fight contract -- the Plant fight plus three others, including Benavidez and Charlo. These are still possible on a fight-by-fight basis on whichever platform provides the highest bid for each fight. But with rare exceptions, like the Mayweather Pacquiao fight, Haymon fighters will not be permitted to fight on other platforms. And that fight required the intervention of Moonves, the CEO of CBS at the time. As it now stands, it appears that Canelo will move up and fight the more formidable champions at 175 rather than be shackled to a multi-fight deal.

Haymon doesn’t want to let plant lose to canelo at this moment. He would rather have canelo leave the division than lose his peice of the smw division. It was obvious by the way plant spoke throughout the year that he was being coached by haymon to avoid canelo at all costs. The price out was plants best option at cowering from canelo while losing the least amount of face. Pbc is on its way out the door so we only have to tolerate them for another year or so. After their welterweight preplanned merry go round they have nothing left to offer which is why they had 80 year old pac fight Spence in a desperate attempt to give Spence ratings.

See this is something I find hard to believe because Canelo and his team have to believe they would do well against Charlo based on his last performance.

Why would they balk at a very lucrative, winnable fight?
